T2

I am considering a T2 for coin hunting in parks and to use on fresh water beaches. Any advise, I have read good things about it but I am concerned about EMI issues and how it handles trashy parks. I will appreciate any advice. Thanks

If you plan on getting one either get the newer T2 Classic or T2SE with DST both have little if any EMI problems. I use my T2 Classic as a do it all detector and have had great results. My settings when coin hunting are Disc. 18 Tones 3 sensitivity 90-99. The T2 is one of the most dynamic machines on the market in my book.

Teknetics T2 Classic 11" DD biaxial coil & NEL Sharpshooter
(Tom Tuned )Fisher CZ6A 8" coil
Fisher1265x 8" coil
Tesoro Bandido II 8" coil
Garrett Pro-Pointer
Lesche hand held digger and Lesche 36" Ground Shark shovel
Relic and Coin hunter over 22 years!!

I only use the original green T2 and never had any major issues with EMI,only initial trouble i had was when i use too carry my mobile phone in my jacket pocket when it was switched on and that did cause some concerns, but once i found out what the problem is i keep it switched off while i am out detecting, still keep it in my pocket just incase of a emergency.

Normal settings i use are 70-75 sens and never go above the 75,4 discrimination and 3 tones.

Deus and Nexus MP-Beauty and the Beast.

Main machines that i use for specific site use T2-DFX-IDX Pro-Nexus SE-TDI Pro Pulse-Mirage Pulse-Crossbow Pulse-Fisher TW-5 twin box-Arado 120b-Trident11 Extreme-and a few others.

Hey Brother,, just curious why you choose 18 disc for coins hunting?

At this setting it discriminates out most small nails and if set below 18 your ears will be bombarded with iron grunts from the small nails.

The classic is a great coinshooter. Little if no EMI issues. Put a Nel sharpshooter coil on it and you have a good trash hunter also.

Right now I'm having to use mine in factory pre-set and there's a lot of signals between 22 and 28. If only hunting for coins I would think setting it at 40 and eliminating all iron would be best.

I dont understand the 'factory pre-set' ?? the T2 does not have presets.

The down fall of setting disc to 40 is it will hurt you in iron infested sites on the T2's unmasking abilities if you have it set that high. If you have a nail next to a coin it will disc the nail along with the coin according to your sweep speed especially using a larger coil.

If you use such a high discrimination level of 40 you stand a very good chance of also knocking out gold as well, foil for me is another thing i also like too hear as our silver hammered coins going back 1000s of years also come in the foil range, this is why i basically use as little discrimination as possible. If i am on a rerally trashy site say a roman/saxon site i will then use a small coil and can then also use 10 on discrimination but never go higher than that.Ok so i can/do dig a few non desirable targets but also i dont miss the prized ones that i am after.

Maybe I used the wrong term. When you turn the machine on it is at 1 tone, 10 disc, and 60 sensitivity. I never did understand why they wanted that low in the iron setting but only 1 tone.

Just to throw a wrench into the works I hunt mostly parks and public sites with many heavy trash infested areas...most sites I hunt are also heavily mineralized with extra helpings of iron everywhere and microscopic pieces infused into most of my soil including the rarer, better black stuff.
I have also hunted a few sites with ridiculously insane amounts of iron and have been wildly and shockingly successful.
Found a ton of everything, clad, older coins, enough silver and gold jewelry both shallow and deep to pay for all of my detectors and accessories.
I currently use an F70 which has mad abilities but no DST, right now the anniversary edition F75 does have DST and a ton of other great features and programs and is being advertised at $599 but most dealer's are actually selling it for $500.
This one, along with the T2 Classic, are two of the absolutely best values being offered on the market right now.
Like getting an almost fully loaded Cadillac for the price of a mid range Chevy...both of them.

The only reason I mention this, (in a Teknetics forum, yet), is because of that ID range and spread between these and the T2.
I have a friend that hunts with the older green classic with no DST and loves it.
Rarely has any EMI problems and never takes the sniper coil off the thing because it goes so deep.
I tried it for awhile and it is a great unit however....
Because I am a jewelry hunter at my core the Fisher iron section that ranges from 1-15 instead of the Teknetics larger 1-40 range is way better suited for me, the way I hunt, the sites I hunt in and the targets I look for.
I have a larger range to play with in the upper end that isn't quite as compressed, the gold range I call it and that is my most favorite target to go after on most hunts.
Not that the rare yellow metal is found on every hunt but I just feel the larger spread will give me a slightly better shot at and more info and data when swinging over targets that like to hide in trashy sites filled with so much other metal that can mimic gold so well...if that is even true at all but it does feel that way to me.
Not to mention I also like to find old coins including nickels which also can be difficult in trash heavy sites.
For relic hunters it might be a different story, for me the spread of the shorter iron range and expanded upper ranges seem perfect.

Just food for thought.

"Okay, who put a stop payment on my reality check?”
F70, F2, Compadre, Vaquero, Judge2 - 2017....Clad, a piece of silver jewelry, a silver dime and a freaking Barber quarter!
Plus other cool stuff.

Most of the gold I find is in the 50-55 range and a few in the zinc range so I just don't see the iron range as being needed
