Quick Draw Pro: Possible compatible (inexpensive) 4" coil

I was told, by a salesman, of a very reputable detector sales site, that the Bounty Hunter 4" Magnum Power search coil is compatible with the Quick Draw Pro. That coil is different than the "standard" 4" coil by Bounty Hunter, and seems to have been designed for the Pioneer 500 series. The cost is around $60, which is substantially lower than the 5" DD, which I thought was my only option. It uses the plug-in connector.

I wanted to run that by the forum, and see if y'all agree. I've come to rely on the members of this forum, as you seem to have a deep knowledge base. Thanks for your help.

The actual definition of "works" can be interpreted in a few ways.
I have 3 of the 4" push in coils. None will work properly on my Land Ranger Pro. I have direct word from a person who works at First Texas that they do not have a 4" coil that is compatible.
Not working properly and not working at all are 2 different things. These coils will make the proper sounds and indicate the correct numbers, but will only get about 2.5 inches of depth.
Hopefully they have something coming soon that will work on these machines.

Unfortunately, that's what I thought was going to be the case. Did they give any indication that one was in the works?

I know of no BH Magnum coil other than the 10". The 505 is a 6.6 khz machine that uses BH 6.6 khz coils like all other earlier Legacy type machines. Putting the cheaper 4" coil on a QSP or LRP would be expecting them to work on Teknetics Greeks and Fisher F5s. If they did, lots of people would be rewiring them with screw ons to save $100.

The 5" coil for the Teknetics Delta or Eurotek Pro costs the same as the price of the 5" for a QDP or LRP. FTP is trying to allow a better grade Bounty Hunter to use the better coils. The Pro series allows a 11" DD that the older BHs cannot use. And you're not going to get them at typical BH coil prices.

I'm not sure why the 4" coil is referred to as a Magnum coil on some sites, but I definitely can't find it on the BH site.

Out of curiosity, what makes a coil, regardless of size, achieve the Magnum status?

I think it's just a name to signify BHs largest coil for early BHs. No extra magic.

The compatible models are:

5coil-tekb
5coil-bh
8coil-7b13
10coil-tekb
10coil-bh
11coil-tekb
11coil-bh

You can still get NEL and detech special order as well.

No difference in tek or bh version. Price is even the same.
