Can't put down rhe Tracker IV....

It usually sits in the back of my car but when I get in a hurry I pick it up. Years ago I was gonna do a writeup on it and the then BH rep ticked me off! First he tried to push a more expensive BH model on me and then after I hinted some things about the Tracker, he told me to write it up and he would give me CREDIT for the writeup after he published it. No extra coil, no digger,pouch--nor even a cap! So I've just sit on the info all these years. But all that aside, it's the most laughed at detector- a real sleeper! I know instantly the probable ID of the target, and the quick reset gives it many advantages. So, if you wanna get in this hobby, don't let the low price scare you.

Slingshot; I started this addiction 6 years ago with a tracker IV and it was the perfect choice because you learn tones and don't start relying on an ID screen. Even tho I upgraded to a pioneer 505 and finally to an f-70, I still get the tracker out every so often for fun hunt in a chip lot, light weight, easy to use and deadly on coins.
I just returned from visiting family in Maine and I took the tracker and the f-70 and of course I hit the beaches!! Both machines did better than some of the posts I have reading here on the forums would lead me to believe. Set properly the f-70 had no problem moving from dry sand to wet sand and into the water. No EMI issues or falsing. The tracker likewise preformed flawlessly, dry, wet sand and water. The only time it would false was if you touched the surface of the water with the coil, above the water or under it , no problem!!
I also coin and relic hunted a shallow river, wading knee deep and moving slow. Both machines proved excellent here too. The main thing was, especially at the salt water beach, THE TRACKER OUTPRODUCED THE F-70!!!
Don't get rid of your lowly chicken squawker guys, it is the best back up, learner, fun hunt machine out there!!

Thanks, Ed. The Tracker IV WILL find more in some instances For one- try this. When you get the tones where the old style tabs cause a mixed tone, take about 5-6 of them in a pile.Scan. You should get the broken tone. Now carefully slide a dime under the pile and scan- now the high tone! Do the same with some nickels- low tone. Now slide a dime under and- high tone!

Reboxed an older Tracker IV for my wife, she hasn't been able to use it yet.
Added a volume control since my wife doesn't like headphones
Plus I have a new one here that I purchased for the coil.
I should get out there and try them out, see what I am missing. They both bench tested very nicely.

By the way, Sling I could use some good new material on my website, more than happy to add it to my Bounty Hunter section and give you full credit.
This would give the Tracker what its due. http://www.treasurelinx.com/bounty_hunter.html

Wow! What a fabulous website! Saw my Compass coin magnum that I wish I still had and about 20 others I swung. I feel so old!
