Considering a 505

Hi Everyone,
I am going to buy my Granddaughter a detector for Christmas. I was looking at an Ace 250, or an F2, but have the opportunity to buy a new Pioneer 505 fr $150.00 . Can I get your opinion on which to buy? She will be detecting with me so I will be able to teach her how to use whichever one I buy.
Thanks

If it were my granddaughter (age 12) I would add $29 to the $150 and buy the Teknetics Digitek. Light, easy to use, appealing to youth and has the 5 year warranty.

Kellyco gives you much of the stuff with a purchase that you need to start off. Digger, pouches, etc. Use the code COUPON10 and get another $10 off.

Isn't the digitec a repackaged BH quickdraw pro? The displays are identical.

Yes. The process is the same as low/mid range Teks and the new F series Fishers. The Digitek difference is only ergonomic. Shorter lower rod for younger hunters, redesigned face plate and a 7" coil over the 8" on the QDP.

So you really think that's a decent detector? That coil seems kind of small. My Granddaughter is 5" and growing fast. I would hate for her to outgrow it quickly.

She's 5? I think the 505 and the Digitek might be a bit much for a 5 year old. Both have a lot going on under the hood.

For a small child that age, now I'm thinking Bounty Hunter JR. FTP says that it's for age 6 and up.

At best maybe a Minelab Go Find 20 or 40. It's a family detector that you may enjoy also, at times.

Contact Craig at Show Me Treasure. Maybe he has a better idea. He's familiar with many, many detectors.

No, I'm sorry. She is 10 years old and 5 feet tall. A smart girl. Tall for her age and will continue to grow quickly. I have to decide today so this arrives by Christmas.

OK,
I wound up getting the Digitek. At first glance it looks like a detector she will enjoy using.
