Does anyone know the difference between the Infinium Aussie v USA models?

I plan to hunt some freshwater lakes which have a heavy mineralised clay bottom.
I am located in Western Australia so you all know that this ground can be bad.

I think the Infinium is the only waterproof detector that will work these conditions.

I have tried an Excalibur but it nulls (sees iron) even at the lowest sensitivity settings.

I also might need a dealer recommendation (if allowed by personal message) that will ship to Australia.

Thanks for any information.

For the past two years all Infiniums manufactured in that period have been up to Aussie specs.
If you buy one from the States that is new but old stock then you may wind up with one that is not upgraded and will not perform well here in Australian high iron mineralisation. Garrett do not keep a record of serial numbers for detectors that are to Aussie specs.

I believe that Phil at The Gold Mining Centre in South Australia keeps a record by serial number of the mod state of every Infinium he sells.

http://Mashdetectors.com ships to Aussie land and they get theres direct from Garrett factory, not any old inventory. There price now for one is around $1015 not including shipping.

Adrian is right as I just heard this news myself about ALL Infinium's now for the last 2 years are to Aussie specs.

Good luck,
Bearkat

Bearkat,

Thanks for the reply.

I would like to support our local dealers but depends on the $$$.

With our dollar buying about American 93c....it's very tempting to buy from the US.

Appreciate the information above.

Tony.

Are ALL brand new Infiniums over the last 2 years made available for sale in the USA and Canada also up to Aussie specs??

There is probably some older stock still on dearler shelves. If the machine is fitted with an early coil that has the soft flatish type coil cable then the unit may be an non upgraded model. if you can get the serial number of the detector Phil may be able to get a clue as to its upgrade status. All Infiniums sold in Australia By the Goldmining Centre will be fully upgraded, Infiniums sold in Australia by other outlets not connected with the Goldmining centre will be of unknown mod status unless the machine is no older than two years from manufacture. If you have one of these infiniums, then you can give the serial number to phil and he may or maynot be able to figure out the age of the detector.

As far as I know, All the Infinium's coming out of the Garrett factory for the last 2 years are all the same...(Aussie specs).

No State.
No Address.
No walk in.
How fare from Lomita Ca.90717. could make a detour on the way to Sweet Water OR.

In Medford Oregon. About 700-800 miles. No detector store just a website.

Tony, you mentioned that you've tried the Excalibur, have you tried it in AM mode? The Infinium should go deeper in fresh water, but you'll have to swing it slow.

That's a very good point you raise.....the answer is no I didn't.

I assumed (maybe wrongly) that a manual GB would ne needed.

I have tried my Sovereign GT in the shallows of one of these lakes and it required quite a bit of ground balancing in AM before all was well.

I was thinking about this very same thing just yesterday !!

Maybe I need to borrow an Excalibur ?

I'm just assuming that the Excalibur in AM will have it's preset GB (if there is such a thing) way out of sync with the ground.

I'd be interested to hear other views on this.

Thanks,
Tony.

You can have a go with my Infinium LS which is very familiar with WA soil, but I'm in Cairns Qld. so a quick weekend drive is out, took me 6 days one way last I went across.
If you ask on some of the local forums there might be a possibility for a link up to a mate with an Infinium.

Thanks ivanll......fairly certain the Infinium would handle the conditions nicely.
Yes, it's quite a haul from East to West
