I tried your park program and found it very useful. In a very trashy park I found 5 nickels and 8 memorials in 30 minutes, In the past I always gave up on the signals that were close to nickels because I would only to find trash.

Thank You

Guys a lot of you are asking about Rings. I attached my modified version of this pattern to help find some Gold Rings without picking up all the Pull Tabs and other Junk. Try this and let me know how it works. This gets most of the Coins as well. The only Coins this misses is the ones right in the Pull Tabs and it is rare to find these coins for this reason.

This was the pattern I used when I first got my Etrac. A very useful pattern for the novice to learn the machine. Made many good finds right off the bat. The very first day I found an 1885 V nickel at a VERY well hunted location. I have found more nickels, and silver, with the Etrac using this pattern than I ever did with my other detector. As I have gained experience, I have used many other patterns and modes, but this is always a favorite go to pattern.

Thanks for the information. I'll give that a try too once I get the park pattern loaded.

We all know now that this is WAY too much discrimination...
The pattern works, but I bet it fails miserably in the iron trash.

What a great pattern. I tried this pattern this week and found 5 old wheats in a lawn next door that I practice on and wow. I had it in ferrous with smooth and could not believe I found them. This yeasd I have worked with the E-Trac for like 5 years.
Thank you for the chance to use it.

Hey Bill I have been watching your videos for years and they are the best of the E-trac I have seen. They are also the reason I finally got one. I have used your trashy park pattern a lot lately when I get tired of digging trash. I have always wondered why you left zincs open. I see in your videos you also dig them. Why? Also you said you got rid of the Etrac, are you swinging the ctx 3030 now? If so when can we expect to see a video?

I am not Bill but there is way too much good stuff that rimgs up as a Zinc Penny. Getting a zinc signal usually does not mean trash, unless you consider a Zinc trash. I have also found you got to dig the zincs to unmask the good stuff. Hopefully I can start hunting again soon. This is my off season. Too hot with ground too hard to dig.

Bill, Following your posts and watching your videos is like a master's course in metal detecting for newbie students like myself. Just wanted to say Thank You.

I am about 3 weeks into the Etrac learning curve, and trying to absorb all the information like a sponge. And there is A LOT of information to absorb!! Thanks for helping to provide guidance and clarity for the love of detecting.

Tim.

Some large men's Gold rings can go up to 30 on the ferrous side...This is cutting out a LOT of gold targets.

HH,

****************************************

Heatedly agree D-oD....

I've added a modified picture of the original posted pattern to show this fact..

It is intended to show the suggested expansion in acceptance pattern, to accommodate

any deep rings falling in the 'fundamental Fe 12 - Con ? ' range.

Note:- Using the stock 11 inch coil, then a 3/4 inch diameter ring should be detectable

down to approx. 8 to 9 inches in favourable ground......

A 6 x 8 inch elliptical will punch down to about 7 to 8 inches.

The soil's attenuating factors will modify such estimations.; as will the ring's gold quality and 'thickness'.

Matt.
