Hello everyone,

I started detecting with a Compass and then a Garrett Freedom 2, back in the mid-1980s when i was a kid. After a 25 year hiatus, I decided that it was time to get back to the hobby I loved so much.

I've had my Etrac for a couple of months, having bought mine from Mike at Woodland Detectors. So far, 26 silver coins, 100 or so wheats, and $50.00 in clad. Most importantly, absolutely having a ball. In my old age (42), I have learned to slow down, research, and pay attention.... things critical to metal detecting success and not high on the priority list of a 15 year old. :)

I got an early start to Father's Day yesterday with a 6:30 a.m. hunt at a local Fire Hall. First coin I found was a 1937 Merc. Tough to have a bad day after that.

I don't think there is a better forum on the internet for detector enthusiasts than this one. Genuinely friendly, generous, and knowledgeable contributors. So lucky that I found it, and promise to contribute more in the future as I learn, grow, and discover with the Etrac.

Joe

Welcome to the E-Trac forum. You're doing great. The E-Trac is a great machine for finding silver. My silver count jumped dramatically when I started using it.

Sorry that the photo is not better... snapped it quick while I had a chance. The larger token-looking thing is a 1939 token for Home Comfort Wood Stoves in St. Louis, celebrating their 75th anniversary. My mother actually has an antique Home Comfort Wood Stove in her kitchen. Truth is stranger than fiction, I suppose. My favorite find is the 1911 Barber Dime, found at an old, defunct professional baseball field. The 1778 Spanish Reale came from an old home in my area- terrible condition but almost fell over when I first saw it in the dirt.

Welcome aboard Pokerman

Sounds like you must have got into it about the same time as me. I'm 42 as well, started with a compass and then moved onto a Minelab goldseekers 15000 back in the mid 80's.

Just got back into at the start of this year, bought an AT Pro, but traded up to the E Trac a couple of months back. Am having a ball! I have never found so many silver as as I have with this machine and many from "hunted out sites"
