Sentimental Gold Ring

We finally had some good moisture in the ground, so I went to a location in a residential area last Friday. I don't use headphones, so my tones were being noticed by some individuals in the area. After about a half hour a woman walks up and asks if my detector can find gold. I informed her it can, but it will also pick up pull tabs and other types of trash so it may be difficult. She then informed me she lost a gold band within the last week. She was outside on a deck, and a wasp came near her. She informed me she waved her hand back and forth to keep the wasp at bay, and her ring went flying. She had a general idea of the location, but it wasn't precise.

Long story short, I pulled three pull tabs in the area and about 5 minutes later I pulled the ring. All the pull tabs were showing approximately 2 inches of depth, so I didn't think they would be the ring. The ring was the first signal on the surface (you couldn't see the ring as it was just beneath the grass). The conductive number was a 10. I went to the spot with my pin-pointer and immediately saw the gold band. I picked it up and asked, "Is this your ring"? (knowing it was). She about flipped out. She teared up with excitement

I asked about the sentimental value of the ring. She informed me her boyfriend gave her the ring nine months ago. I didn't want a reward, as finding the ring was fun enough for me. I did ask if I could get a picture of her with the ring, and she was happy to share. I'm the guy with the Tilley hat.

I didn't find any coins or interesting relics this day, but the ring made me appreciate the hobby and it definitely left a smile on my face.

Sorry the pic is sideways. I will have to open it in an editor prior to loading it on the computer.
