Couple of finds

I was testing out the V with its new 6x10 at a local haunt and, astoundingly, it pulled out a couple of silver rings where I had hunted with the DFX at least a few times. Maybe it was just one of those things, or maybe it was because I was using no discrimination with a custom tone pattern...maybe a little of both.

Bounced between the 60's and 70's because band is cracked at narrowest point

Solid 86 with short signal

Rings and about half the other stuff is from today

STER and STERLING

Map of target finds including the two from today...maybe you could apply some lessons learned from this pic to your own site(s)?

I haven't found that much jewelry over the 10 years since I started!

Great finds, Chris! What were your settings?

Man, that IS alot of rings. I have one park where I have found alot of silver coins. I drew a rough sketch of the park and placed an x for every silver I found. After a couple of years there was a definite pattern (V shape), to where these coins were coming from. It is a very good idea if you are having some success at a large site.

Take care, Dave

What type of site is that?? I have hunted continously almost every day for a month and have only found a few old coins...and they werent that old.....1907 is the oldest.. Where should I be looking for old coins...I have tried old houses, parks, along sidewalks in my town established in 1834....but no luck yet....I'd give my left eye for a large cent..

Thanks for everything,
Craig

Fortunately, I appear to have been the first person to hunt the parks in my area (starting a few years ago). More stuff than anticipated has come out of them. This is the biggest park in the neighborhood, but its really a soccer complex, of course.

Because the folks using this site are usually in organized leagues, there are not many finds on the fields. They wouldn't wear much, if any, jewelry on the field. A park/field that attracts a more civilian crowd would have more finds on the fields since the play would be more spontaneous and unorganized. As you can see, most of the finds are on the sidelines, goals, sitting/picnic/shady/tree areas, areas that funnel movement and areas with a vertical component (middle of site is a small hill).

You could probably also say something about the gold/silver ratio. At present, the ratio is around 1/3 (7 gold, 23 silver, 3 "other"). What should the ratio be? I would think it would be closer to 1/10, but I don't know for sure. Does that mean there's more silver?

I've been hunting this place for at least a couple of years off and on. 99% of the finds were found with the DFX, usually with the Bigfoot attached. Some of the best finds were with the 4x6. I usually used a 3-freq custom coin/jewelry program...nothing special. With the V, I'm experimenting.
