As others have suggested the best way is to find rings that match the ones you are looking for. Use them to create data you can use on your machine.

I would use Coin and Jewelry or Hi Pro programs and look for shallow targets (depending on time in ground) in the gold range (depending on size of the ring). Average wedding bands could be VDI of 15 to 30 and men's class ring could be as high as VDI 60. Gold rings can be anywhere 6 to 60 depending on size. If they are recent drops, you can turn you Gain and Sensitivity way down because you are only looking in the top several inches of the ground. Good luck.

Bells and whistles are nice, but nothing will substitute for the basic understanding of the hobby.

Looks like that about covers it.

One thing that really helps is if these rings were lost recently, turn your sens way down (I mean way down). That way you can ignore everything in the ground and focus on surface hits only. This is what I do with most of the recoveries I do with recently-lost items. Hope this helps. Good luck and HH -Marc

You shouldn't have a problem with either of those. I have recovered countless rings from both of the situations you mentioned. Go slow and dig up all pull-tab signals you come across. If those rings are still there, I am sure you will find them. Good luck and please keep us posted. -Marc
