I guess i really just wanted someone to help persuade me to purchase the v3i, even though i have been researching the machine for the past 6 months. Most of what I have read about it is positive. My future purchase of the v3i will be most likely be in April ( if I can wait). I am looking forward to passing on anything I learn about this machine as well as taking in all that is posted on this forum. Much obliged.

Thanks for your response.
I am currently using the whites dfx, and have been for ten years.

Then you will love the V3.

First off you have a lot more control over the sensitivity adjustments Gain and Discrimination sensitivity. You will like that right off the bat.

Second you are moving from two available frequencies to three. You will also like that right off the bat.

Third, you can assign your own tones to VDI numbers or VDI ranges.

Fourth, you can change the range of VDI numbers that make up a signagraph bar. DFX is locked into 7 VDI numbers per bar. V3 defaults to 7 VDI numbers per bar but you can adjust this to less numbers for more resolution or more numbers for less resolution. And you can choose to see all three frequencys response or turn off multigraph and see only one response like the DFX.

Sixth...you get lots of different visualizations of the signal in COLOR. Spectragraph, Signagraph, Sizing graph, polar plot, pinpoint, pinpoint Graph, Prospecting graph.

Seventh...it has transmit boost. You can increase the TRANSMIT power.

Eighth...you can create loads of programs for just about anything.

It does have a drawback. Some the engineering speak is hard to understand, like for the ground filters. The simple DFX descriptions are not present for the V3 filters so you have to work through that and it can take some time as no one really explains them. But thats part of the fun, right?

The best thing to do when you get one is to try all the stock programs and when you find one that you click with, by that I mean you like the audio and visual responses, then use that one as a baseline for tweak it just the way you like it.

I think you should make the leap.

Jump!

Go For It!

I have never owned a dfx , but I love my v3 it seems to me the v3 is the dfx taken to another level . I can't imagine using anything goes else atm . I'm sure u will love and feel at home with the v3i. Some say it's hard to use , respectfully disagree .

Thanks for the feedback HH and P2. I am looking forward to the upcoming season. My plan is to order the v3i by mid April. Cant wait to get this machine and learn all I can about it. As suggested, I will try out the stock programs at first, and go from there. I will post after my first couple of outings and let you know my thoughts. Thanks again.

I used a DFX for 10 years and then acquired a V3i. I would buy the V3i again. Which I did in a way last summer, buying a second V3i that was used and came with 5 coils at a great price..

My first hunt or two I thought the v3i was noisy. Started tweaking coin program and 0 tones and it was great. Just started tweaking c and j and nulling tones. Had v3i since January but only hunt like 5 hrs a week.
