A Few More Silver Finds

Well the last 2 weeks or so have been productive for me, not a lot, but still some silver finds. First, I was bored and hunting school yards and boxes and some guy came over and told me a couple lost something out in the grass because they spent a couple of hours looking for it. Well, I did not know what they lost or anything but an approximate area, so I decided to just crank up my setting a bit and make some quick passes over the area. I was at an end closest to the school house and got a good 79-81 VDI, so I checked in the grass and nothing, but the depth still showed 2-3 inches, so I took out my lesche and dug a plug out and out pops this ring with a stone in it. I knew it could not be the couples as they had just lost it the day before. It was almost black and had the stone, so i just figured it was probably silver plated and CZ. I got home and it was sterling silver and the stone tested as Diamond. It is about 1/4 carat.
Next, I went hunting with a friend in another town and we hunted several lots with vacant houses and found a good amount of clad, but finally I found one of the silver Rosies. Then we went to another house and I found another silver Rosie. The next silver outing, I was in my own town hunting by myself and had found a good amount of clad and lots of pennies along with 10-12 quarters and about the same in dimes. In some of these yards, my VDI's read up to 81 for memorial pennies and sometimes up to 87 for a clad quarter, so I did not pay any attention to the quarters until I got home. I went thru the dimes.....no silver, then I was about to throw the quarters in my quarter bowl and decided to go ahead and check them just for grins and lo and behold there was a 1956 Washington quarter.
The last of my recent ventures was today at a vacant house. I found a couple of memorials, then a dime, then some more pennies and just was not finding much. I was just about thru with the yard when I got a 79-81 VDI that hit pretty strong. I knelt down and my V3i said it was 2 inches, so I took the lesche and stuck it in the ground about 4" and popped the dirt up. In the dirt was this I.D. bracelet. I had hunted with Blind Squirrel on a vacant lot several months back and found one just like this that was stainless, so I just put it in my bag. Well, I finished off at another yard finding some clad and a dollar coin and packed it up and went home.
I took the bracelet out and for grins, I went into my other room where I have my silver testing acid and rubbed the bracelet on the stone and put some drops of the acid on it and it turned this very nice brick red. At this point, I went and cleaned it up and then I could see the STERLING mark on the back. I went to my gun room to use my digital scales and this bracelet weighed 32.76 grams!!! That is almost 2 grams OVER a troy ounce. Always nice to find an ounce of silver all in one item!!

And yes, Blind Squirrel, they are sideways. I did not use my digital camera this time, I used Iphone pics, so it turns them sideways. Just turn your head to one side and look, I am not retaking the pics....lol

Oh, and as you can see the bracelet has a guy's name on it and yes, I have checked and unfortunately, the guy passed away and his wife moved out of the house several years ago. The guy next door did not know the guy to be the same name as is on the bracelet.

Thanks Mike Hill. I have a new strategy working and boy is it working. I have found 5 more silver dimes since I posted this. So far this month, I have found 11 silver coins, and 3 silver rings/bracelets.
