Coiltek Probe for TDI

I got used to using a pinpointing probe on my SE PRO and would like to buy the Coiltek probe for my TDI Pro. Problem is I can't find a dealer who has one in stock and I was hoping to have one before the upcoming DIV. Any ideas, suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Bernie
The best place to look would be a Coiltek dealer. Many of the Minelab dealers also offer the Coiltek coils. You may post a want add on the Classified rooms on this forum and find a used one.
I use a Detector Pro Pistol PI probe, it has good depth and works great to locate small targets.

Hi Bernie,

There is one on Ebay.

I have a Coiltek probe I will sell but don't have the little switchbox available. I suspect Steve Herschbach has them available, since that is where I got my box.

Take a look at the probe and switch setup to see what works well.

I was going to use the Coiltek Probe but I found I could use Eric's probes also, so I modified the box a little and use Eric's probes that used to come with the GS 5. I got a probe when I bought a used GS 5 but didn't try it because it normally has a resistor to reduce power to the probe. I ended up adding the resistor and using Eric's probe after all.

Now, one thing that can happen when you use the Coiltek probe is you may get a strange vibrating sound coming from the probe. That has happened on occasion. It won't hurt anything, but it does cause concern for some people since they are not sure what is happening. Again, you might ask Steve Herschbach about this, since he is familiar and found this "singing" noise appears to happen on certain TDI's.

I used a DX-1 Sunray Probe on my MXT but it would not find small pickers. I have since sold it and bought a Garrett Pro pointer and it is very good for depth and for finding small pickers.
