I posted this down in another thread. But in case some of you were interested, I'll stick it back up here at the top so more might see it. It involved a question about metal in boots and how they affect your detecting.

Get a pair of these boots and you will never own another. Most of us who nugget hunt have these. NO METAL, lightweight, good traction, water resistant, and they fit like a glove! Incredibly comfortable! Order your normal size. Oh, and keep checking back to the web site, sometimes they go on sale or they have a 2 for 1 deal. I think I have the correct link. I have both the 8" Tactical Sport #2250 $85.99 (in the desert tan) and the 5" Tactical Sport #2262 $72.99 (in black). Both of which are non-metalic.

I have to have a very wide boot (4E) and the Xtra Wide designation fits me just fine in the same size I wear in New Balance shoes.
No need to wear heavy socks or order one size to big or too small (my findings - your mileage may vary).

I have ordered a side zip model, but returned them as I did not see the "steel toe" notice (duh) on the description..

Ask Customer Support if their model #_____ is non metalic to clear metal detectors (they refer to airport type detectors and do not know much about our sport. So I gather from my C.S. contacts. Check out what the TSA Cops wear and you'll see Bates boots.
