Rechargeable batteries for TDI SL

I have found some 1.6 V rechargeable AA batteries. Does anyone know if they would be safe to use in my TDI SL.
Thanks for your replies.

Are these batteries the NiZn type? If so, you might want to read the spec sheet for them. As for your question, they should work but don't expect them to last that long before needing to be charged. I suspect your question is will they exceed the recommended voltage? So, to answer that question, as far as I can tell, the answer is no.

BTW, the NiZn batteries are about 1.9V when fully charged and are at about full recommended discharge close to the 1.6V. Aso, I suspect run time will be 2 hours or less based upon the specs of the battery.

I need to clarify something and adjust the voltage I mentioned above. First, the 1.6V I mentioned above is where the voltage will begin to drop off quite rapidly. From 1.3V until the 1.1V will happen very quickly. However, the recommended absolute minimum voltage of the NiZn by Powergenix AA battery is 1.1V per battery. Below this voltage and there is a good possibility of a voltage reversal, and possible premature failure of the battery.

Therefore, if one uses them in a SL and if a person waits until the low battery light comes on, the voltage on at least some of the batteries will be less than the 1.1V. Calculating the discharge rate at maybe 500 ma for the SL and possibly higher on the TDI, the maximum safe run time for the batteries will most likely be less than 3 hours and possibly closer to a little more than 2 hours.

I think the SL is designed to handle at least 18 volts on the battery.

I have a TDI purchased a year + I see that there is a AA battery pack for the the new TDI 7.5 1/2 . Will it work in my detector that came with the two 14.4 volt Ah Li-ion batterys? It would be a good backup when in a situation ware you can't recharge. Thanks Bill

As Larry said, No, the TDI SL AA battery pack will not work or fit in your TDI.
