I had a chance to use a friends TDI pro on one of the Florida beaches near Sarasota for a few days.
It is deep. It is different in that I am used to the Excalibur II 1000 with WOT coil on the beaches. I like it a lot. It will be one of my next detectors.
With that being said, the TDI Pro is an awesome beach machine. But.......don't get it near the water. I had a couple of rogue waves hit me in less than ankle deep water when I was digging a target and I was JUST quick enough to get the TDI out of the way. I came real close to buying a salt water destroyed TDI Pro. It is just too tempting to get it near the water. The thing is, it happened two more times before I finally said that's it.
Dry sand and wet sand and the TDI pro is real high on my list of detectors to have. Near the water or in the water, then the Excalibur or the White's dual field would be my personal choices. Others would differ of course. Chevy vs Ford.
I wish White's would make a waterproof TDI pro. I'd sell all my detectors and have only that as my one and only. It is that good.
