TDI SL mod

I purchased my 5th Whites detector... a TDI-SL. I do some prospecting but primarily cache hunting. I was not very happy with the ergonomics of the handle but also wanted to get rid of the aluminum rod since I was planning on using the 25" nugget finder coil seen on the picture.
I got a carbon fiber kit and handle and proceeded to change it out. Little work taking rivets out but over all easy mod.
Like the feel of it much better now .

I like that. I assume you made it from parts you purchased. If I may ask, where and how much.

I want to do that as well and I really don't want to go through one of the CF shaft dealers if I can do it cheaper...

Please email me if you have the info and don't want to post here.

Thanks

Once i get my TDI sl machine in the next few weeks i will be doing this straight shaft conversion to it but can i ask a question what do you mean by removing the rivets are these some kind of rivet that hols the control box onto the 'S' shaft i guess that must be the only thang that they do.If you take the control box of the 'S' shaft how is it mounted onto the straight carbon shaft as i cannot grasp how its done is it screwed onto it or rivetted like the original one.

Thanks

Has anyone else used one of these carbon fibre shaft as i am trying to find who sells them,i cannot seem to find one that will fit.Why Whites ever went away from the great shaft that was used on the TDI Pro to the horrible 'S' shaped shaft that went out of fashion years and years ago i cannot fathom out as Whites in my opinion make some of the best shaft going as alot of people use the DFX shaft on alot of other brand name detectors coils due to the great design but they certainly have got the TDI sl shaft wrong hence this is the reason i would like to mount it all on a straight shaft.

I have just located and purchased a similar straight shaft albeit its not Carbon Fibre but its made by rods_by_plugger the interesting thing about this specific rod is that it has a additional 8-9inch extension rod on the top i assume to keep a control box out of the surf that type of thing but what i am planning on doing is for normal use when using the stock coil is have the control box behind the arm cup as it normally would be and then when i put a bigger coil on i will then find a way of mounting it on the extension rod hoping that it would counter balance the larger shaft better.

Its not finished yet but as soon as i work out how to mount the control box up higher i will then take a few images.
