10 pounds of lead in 4.5 hours

I took the day off so I decided to go detecting in a local river. I had hoped for some old Spanish silver since this is the area of el camino real. The silver eluded me today, but I did find 1 quarter(1997). What I did find was a bunch of bullets and bird shot. 832 bullets ranging from .177 cal to .45 cal. There were some rifle bullets but mostly .22 long rifle. 1 homemade "cornbread" fishing weight and a pocket knife. Total weight for lead including the gold pans is 11 lbs, so I guess it's about 10 lbs of lead. Oh, all this was dug with my hands and small digging tool. I located the cracks that held the lead wih my ATPro. I didn't have any pans so I just threw it in my pouch by the handful. I dug several handfulls that had 10 plus bullets in the sand as well as lots of birshot. I cleaned it up and counted at home.

The sad news is that my AT Pro may need some work done. It seemed like every time I changed swing direction or bumped the bottom it would false(86-98 readout). That got pretty annoying after a few hours. All in all a good day. I'll melt the lead down and make new bullets for my black powder revolver.

Someone said they took off their coil cover and emptied the sand out it. Be careful not to break it.

Well, not gold or silver but you can make a few free rounds.
I am also fond of black powder, I have a couple of Remingtons nma 1858 and a pair of "Kentucky's rifle" ... nice feeling.
un saludo
