That they have been building metal detectors since 1964, which means that their 50th Anniversary is next year in 2014. And they have been very busy all these years too!

Considering everything that they packed into the AT, it looks like they learned a thing or two. I wouldn't mind if miss July scanned me then reached deep down into my pockets for some coins.

John, hadn't even thought that Garrett's 50 year anniversary was next year. I'm thinking we could see a new Garrett MD next year.

Thanks for sharing the list John, amazing 50 years ago out of his garage is were it all started.

I collect vintage metal detectors, 14 of my Garrett collection are of the order Garrett BFO models a couple are proto-type.

Here's one not on the list, At least I think its not on the list. An old Garrett BFO Tracer model, light as a feather pretty cool for its age, and advanced for it's time.

Even smaller than a Tesoro, neat looking model too. Once belonged to Allan Cannon, World known treasure hunter. I was very fortunate to pickup several vintage models from Allan.

I found a old metal detector in like a suitcase that I am told is what it came in. We believe it is Garretts first metal detector he ever released. Called The Hunter. I have no idea what to do with it. Even has the instruction manual with it. I think it is all there. Can anyone give me any insight on it?

Hello everyone with an interest in the older Garrett Metal Detectors
I have a Beach Hunter AT3 and hope some one can help me with a question,

Inside on the circuit board there is a slide switch, I believe that switched one way is for fresh water beaches & the other for salt water beaches.
Which way is it meant to be set to hunt on the salt water beach
Best regards from downunder in New Zealand

Garrett just contacted me to help design a state of the art metal detector. It's similar to a laptop (hand held, the size of an Samsung Galaxy phone, no more coil ) except it's got a ground laser beam which scans the ground in a 360 degree angle up to 50 yards. It's GPS every target, including depths, and all you have to do is go to the GPS locked area and dig. LOL just joking...got you guys attention now, I wish Garrett would come up with something similar. But than again, this will take the fun out of detecting.

Kiwi, If there isn't anyone aboard that knows about this machine you're going to need to seek out Garrett's help. They have a contact us line @ the bottom of the site.

I used to have one until I gave my Deepseeker to charity several years ago (complete with armrest, sniper, 7 and 14" coils, hip mount, and the extra accessory used for the 14" coil to counter balance the weight (had its own hand grip and ADS toggle switch!). I found the super sniper coil to be productive, especially along sidewalks and when in very trashy areas.

Last week I bought a near mint Deepseeker, fully operational, with the 7" coil and am very happy to have this model back in my collection. It was a huge advance for our hobby!
