It would not be so bad but they ring up in the high 70's-80's where my pennies, dimes and quarters come in at. I have read about techniques to id those caps, but it's not fool proof yet but I'm trying some of Dave J's suggestions as well as Monte's techniques. I'll just have to work on it to see if I can get them figured out. It's taking some getting used to with only 2 tones when I came from a dfx with hundreds of tones. I get hung up hearing that high tone and look down to see its a VDI I may not want to dig but it also depends on the discrimination I set it on. I started low at 40, they started moving up as the sounds and signals flooded me so as not to get overwhelmed from the sheer feedback I was getting. Note, I was in a very trashy park that would give a ton of signals per sweep in most cases. It has some good things going for it, just not sure if it's what I really need for park hunting. I seem to notice a lot of relic hunters who love it and find coins as a bonus. I don't know how many coin hunters use it in trashy parks such as what I do for my type of hunting. I did find a ladies silver ring with it that rang up like a quarter, so I can't say it doesn't perform, it just may not be suited for me is all.Re: New G2 User here, some observations Posted by: godigit1 Date: April 13, 2012 12:41AM | Registered: 2 years ago Posts: 413 |

The downside to all of this is I will be selling the G2 now
It is a little busy for me when I came from other units where I could notch discriminate and I am also wanting to try out other machines so this one will have to find a new home. It is a really good detector and there are people here who just love them and wouldn't part with them for any money, but I'm on the fence and going to see if the grass is greener in other pastures before I consider this one again.Re: New G2 User here, some observations Posted by: D&P-OR Date: April 15, 2012 10:43PM | Registered: 4 years ago Posts: 3,670 |

Habanero --
If you coin hunt, and want to "cherry pick," I have one more thing for you to try, that you might like, for maybe one hunt before you sell. I usually don't hunt this way, but it IS a very QUIET way to hunt.
Set your disc up to 80. At that setting, you will only hear high tones (and of course, those doggone bottle caps)! This is a very "quiet" way to hunt, and the machine is very effective picking out coins (except for zinc cents and nickels) at this setting. In my opinion, if you want to dig gold, you CANNOT safely notch ANYTHING on ANY machine -- as gold can literally hit ANYWHERE; on the other hand, if you coin hunt, and are willing to miss nickels and zincs, you can max out your disc and have a very quiet, cherry-picking coin hunt.
Just a thought...
Steve

You are aware that the M6 you have coming doesn't have notch disc either aren't you?---Perhaps you would like the Omega, just a thought.---The Omega has both notch disc. & tone I.D. (and a few other neat features).
