Tested Deus on 14K Figaro style gold chain tonight

I was using 8kHz and the chain bounced from 27 to 30 constantly. It's my twin brother's chain who is visiting and knowing nothing about detectors.

He said in an upset voice: "Why do you keep moving the coil back and forth across the chain?!" Just hold it still!" I grinned and said I have to move the coil back and forth. That's how detectors work.
Now going the length of the chain was a different matter. It was hard to pick up the chain going lengthwise on the coil sweep.

Tomorrow I'll try other kHz's.

Excellent Tony,

You may want to try the Gold field mode and compare, use 3 discrimination if you have to use disc no higher it may discriminate out the gold chain. Higher frequencies as well, You probably already know but don't forget to GB when switching frequencies.

And reactivity as low as ground allows with Gold field, increase sensitivity you can operate with higher sensitivity using Gold field mode. And if possible, Switch to XY screen stronger ID with XY.

Wow! Gold Field is the ticket! Tried it this morning and it hit really hard on the gold chain! I could raise the 11" coil over a foot above the chain and it was still picking it up.
Thanks for the tip, pal!
Hey, when detecting a fresh water beach around the Great Lakes, I wonder if Gold Field would work well in the dry sand and even in the water?

Hi Tony, I use Gold Field on the beach at Myrtle Beach and get ear ring backs at 3" to 4" deep. You need a very good pin pointer to find them after you find them. I have had them in my hand two or three times and still can't find them. Gold Field is the setting for small gold.

Do you use "tracking" for ground balance on the dry sands?

I'd like to get that coil looks like the one for gold!

If l can ground balance I do, but if I can,t get a good balance I use track.

Thanks! I just can't believe how hard it was hitting on that gold chain. Then I tried it on one of his really thin rope silver and it hit it good too.
I could live the coil quite high, about 11 to 12 inches and it was still hitting. I can't wait to hit some beaches!

Tony, how about a pic of the chain and clasp.

The chain was undone at the clasp and laid lengthwise. It is long enough to go around the neck.
