Had fun today at the beach. Took my twin brother but he doesn't detect.
Didn't find any gold but it was still nice to get out.

Nice picture. I metal detected at a beach one time and didn't find anything but a zinc penny. You would think those people would lose a lot of stuff but I believe you have to go to certain places to do any good. Sounds like you're doing a good job showing your brother the sights.

Greetings and good luck from West Virginia

Great pic tony,

Your guys resemble NASA Tom, especially holding a metal detector.

Great view, getting out with your brother makes it even better.

Congrats!

There might be another detectorist or so who live in the area who mop up before I get there. Plus I didn't want to get too close to those folks who were on the beach.
I sure dug a lot of pull tabs and there was another trash Item that I don't know what it is. It rings in around the 70's but looks like little globs of some metallic stuff, kind of gray in color.
Maybe I can post a pic of them later on.
It was interesting how some of the folks were really interested in my hobby and asking questions.

Question for those searching in GOLD FIELD
Posted by: Tony N (Michigan)

I was detecting the beech in gold field and quite often I'd get a decent sound with the right side of the horseshoe filled in but no number would ever appear in the ID.
Why do you think it does that?

That's going to happen Tony, weak or deep signals will sometimes do this.

You may want to try XY screen, experiment with it actually create a separate Goldfield program with XY so you can channel between the two quickly experimenting. Also, Only when ground conditions allow try running a lower Reactivity this boost both audio and visual ID. But ground needs to allow this, if you're hearing too much ground with terrible stabitily bump up reactivity a little.

I'm in the learning stages myself, different machines from companies have their way of increasing recovery speed. SAT speed, Reactivity etc. With the Deus, Reactivity sets the pace but only go as low as possible before stabitily is effected.

I'm not the greatest with wording sentences, hope I'm making sense. I like the Goldfield, But it has room for improvement.

We appreciate your post and of other users they are encouraging, have fun Tony!

Always great to get out and hunt, no matter where it is.
Looks like it was a great day for it...
Your gray blobs are most likely what we call fire nuggets.
They are the leftovers of campfires and melted soda and beer cans.

Hi Paul, the problem is, it wasn't a weak signal. It was blasting my years and filling up the entire right part of the horseshoe but still no number. I hit about 5 of those but didn't dig.

Yea, they kind of do look like aluminumish (if that's a word. LOL).

It's been hard getting out when my twin comes up since he doesn't like to detect and I don't blame him for not
wanting to just stand around while a detect. But finally I couldn't take anymore and said "We're going to the beach!"

Paul, per your suggestions, I worked an area today that was just cover with iron and was having trouble pulling stuff. After switching to GF with your setups, began popping coins. But noticed like Tony that I was getting good tones with out a VDI that showed shallow on the screen . I dug one which was a pulltab and just assumed that unlike the coins these were smaller metal objects being masked by the iron. So your saying these could be good deep objects that should be dug? Also I didnt know that in 4.0, the xy screen would default to any but the dedicated programs. Thanks again. Paul

I told every body, you need a good pinpointer. Some of the thing the Gold Field finds is just to small to see.
