Found a silver plated spoon which was deep, some buttons, some bullets, a '34' and '44' Lincoln and the other Lincolns are copper as well.
All in all it was a fun time.

Yes, just one area in the park that the soil is floodplain type and not very well drained where I ground balance around 70ish. Don't know why but the Detector is chatty in that soil. About a hundred feet further the topography rises a couple feet and GB around 84ish and it settles down.

Those are nice finds. What is the large round thing and the other with the hanger like it's a pendant of some kind? I found three wheats at some recent digs. They're indicative of old stuff. But those other things you found, very interesting hope you can find out what they are.

Hi pplinker,
I cleaned it up. It says Weather Tamer.
It may have come off a rain coat?

Thanks for the kind words.
I just googled Weather Tamer and there is a line of clothing with that name.

Thanks for the kind words, Sataro. I still have lots to learn about my Deus. A lot of the stuff left where I hunt are masked by trash
so it is kind of fun getting in the thick of things as they say. It is rewarding even if I only find what I do.
Some people find gobs and gobs of silver still. Me? I don't know what I'm doing wrong in finding so few silvers per year. I realize a lot of it has to do with location.
A guy in our club just got his 400th silver for the year. He does this year in and year out.

When I started using the Explorer XS when it came out I hit an unknown park and was pulling many, many wheat backs out at very impressive depths. They say where there are wheat backs there's silver.
I didn't find one silver that was deep in that park where all those pennies were located. Just a couple that were relatively shallow. I went back to it yesterday and didn't get one signal so maybe I cleared it out?

The Deus is a different animal than the Explorer so it is taking me some time learning its idiosyncrasies. I wish I were like Andy Sabisch and CT_Todd who can really understand their detector and are real pros, but we all have our capabilities.
Sometimes I get really depressed when I spend all day detecting with nothing to show for it. But just getting out has its own rewards. It's kind of like buying a $9.000.00 bass boat and going out all day and not catching anything.
Maybe some day my ship will come in and I'll start finding a lot of goodies.
Then there are people who text me and tell me they will detect with me and promise me "this weekend" but they never show up. I know it's not because of body odor. LOL. And some say they will meet me then call it off and I find
they went with someone else after they post their finds on a FB page. So I have to go it alone because I can't rely on anyone. Anyway, I'm done with my rant. Sorry if this went too long.

Doubt you're doing anything wrong. You seem very knowledgeable and earnest in putting a lot of effort in learning the Deus. For sure, if you are finding wheats, then depth is not a problem. Nails or other odd circumstances aren't hiding only the silvers but not wheats, although certainly more pennies were lost than dimes. Could be the club member that is finding so much silver is getting a lot of new permissions. I hunt a place, find most of the good stuff and after that it slows down. Sadly I still go back which is like the saying that it is madness to do the same thing over and over and expect different results. I hope to hunt some new places this fall when the weeds and brush die down. Well, yeah I do have another place to hunt. Have been hunting next to a weed infested abandoned bank foreclosure and the neighbor invited me to hunt on his place which is much older. Gosh I hate to because he takes such good care of his lawn. But today I spent almost 10.00 to buy his dogs some treats to make up for anything I do to his lawn, and will go tomorrow or the next day and give it a try.

You are doing great Tony from Michigan. Try to get a new permission. It doesn't have to be ancient, maybe from the 50's has good chance of silver. You are doing a great job and I hope the weeks ahead get even better.

This is a website where I copied the program I use. Has worked better for me than any other, but that is maybe just in this locality. https://www.detecting.us/referencelibrary/xp-relic-2/

Sounds good. That's almost how far apart my friend lived from me. but we made it work.I find I do better when there is a little competition and comradery. My hunting buddy of many years died this year. We went out a lot. As his sickness progressed we went out less and less. We had so many years of great times. We'd go to breakfast before detecting. He'd laugh as he followed me and would pull 50 centers behind me and then rub it in.
But it was all fun. I'd get revenge when I'd pull a nice gold ring at his feet then I'd rub it right back in. If he told me he'd meet me here or there I could rely on him being there. It seems this new generation has lost its moral compass in that they are not a man of their word. It's always nice when you can rely on someone being a man of their word and they rely on you being a man of your word.

Anyway, as you can see, I probably talk too much. LOL. I'll PM you.

Tony (Michigan)
