I found colonial coin ?

I got out for a bit today at a palace I've hit a few times and it never lets me down. I hit this and I'm not sure what it is and don't really want clean it any more then I have , just in case. I figured the hard core relic folk would bee able to shine a little light on this one. The date looks like 1787 or 1738 . It was 6 or 7" deep and I was use 4K ,reactivity 1, silencer -1, full tones. I also have another program that's is 12k that I check for iron with but this time the tone in 4 was pretty good and in 12 it sounded like a nail , when I dug it I found 2 nails and then rechecked the hole and then it sounded the way it should have . So if anyone has an idea what I've got I thank you in advance.

You found a terrific coin. Designed by Ben Franklin. You found the first coin from the continental congress. You found a Fugio Cent. Very hard to come up with. Congrats.

Awesome !!! Thanks for the info . Now what should I do with it , is there somewhere I can get properly cleaned or should I just leave it be ? There looks to some detail on the date side but I don't want to mess it up. There always seems to be one side that's just plain shot on any copper that I have ever found. Todd thanks for info

That nice finding a Old Colonial coin, well done.

I found one of the rarest original Colonial ones in the world myself 10 months back.

That`s part of the fun with our hobby we never know whats coming out of the ground next.

Happy Hunting,

Jerry.

You could put it in some distilled water for 4-6 hours then just pat pat pat on the mud with a soft cloth. When you get it where you want it or as much as you dare. Then a couple of coats of Ren Wax

Sweet old coin you have there! There's an almost zero% chance of finding one of those anywhere in this state, however some Spanish coins come up every so often....

It's good to see someone else using 4kHz!

Some of these rare coins are worth a lot of money.

Its all the luck of the draw to walk over one with a detector in hand. Jerry..
