There is a 85 acre property I had gotten permission to hunt about a year ago. The house was built in 1730 with later aditions in the 1800's. The owner knows I'm in the remodeling business and one day asked me how much I'd charge to hang an exterior door. I said I wouldnt charge him anything if he bought the door. It was worth it as I have found my oldest coin to date there (1696 shilling) state coppers, IH's, and large cents. I have done other little handy man tasks without charging, and happy to do it. Him and his wife are also up in age.

One of the oldest places around me built in 1837 is just the cut stone basement now. It served as a stage stop when the area was just opened up and records indicate later on chief okemos and his uncle chief pontiac met there to discuss indian matters. Anyway I approached the owner who was reluctant at first to let me detect it until I made mention that I would pick up the branches and take my tractor and mow the lot, well 1 1/2 hours of work and I have about a acre and a half to detect, hope it pays.
