Bad coil?

I have a bad 11” coil that is out of warranty. My 3030 goes nuts when it is plugged in. My other 3 coils work great. My question is. Has anyone had a coil repaired that was out of warranty? If so what was the approximate cost. I’m trying to determine if is worth fixing or if I should just get a new one. Thank you.

I haven't heard of this actually being done wih CTX coils but perhaps just try an ohmmeter test on the connector pins. Maybe you can fix it by installing a new connector.
Let me know how much you want for it if you give up on it. Not like I really need another but I'm curious if I can fix it. If you are in southern CA I am in south OC.

Jeff... coilrepair@gmail.com if you don't have it. Bill Lahr is, or at least was,in Compton,CA. I do not know if he repairs CTX coils but I'm sure he could if it were a wiring issue. That is,if he is still around. That way you could get a price right from the guy doing the work.
That kinda hurts, having the 11" down. The 17" is great in the open but stinks in the woods!
Good luck....

I just got a reply back from Minelab. Minelab does not fix coils. Hopefully the contact you gave me can help or I will have to buy a new one (ouch$$$).

I’m already 1st on the list for an Equinox 800 with my dealer. I’m seriously thinking of not replacing the coil, at least until I see how the Equinox compares.

If issue is on connector end it can be fixed, if it is on the coil end not a lot you can do. Strain relief is not a connection point, it is a pass through point, cable is hard wired to coil windings with circuit board and a coat of resin is pored over the top. Most failures at coil are under strain relief.
