Another question from the CTX newb...screen protectors?

Do you all put any type of screen protector on your CTX? If so, what kind? I always put them on my cell phones, and assume that's the approach to take with these as well? If anyone can point me to what works best, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Steve

I get the @#$%& invisible shield 2 pack protectors and cut it foe a perfect fit.
I use a piece over the screen and cut a piece that goes over the buttons also.
Lasts a good long while , mines been on for almost 2 years and it’s ok
Just make sure it’s the flexible stuff so you can cut it to fit

Walmart has a couple of different brands. Either will work just fine.

Yeah, get on of the adhesive screen protector made for a tablet, then trim down to size for the inset screen. I got one with 2 covers and made one for the screen inset and one for the faceplate.

Thanks everyone. Ben Town, I know what the name you were trying to write is, but the forum won't let you write that word (still don't understand that...it treats that word like a cuss word??)

Anyway, I'll go that route. Jason, thanks for the suggestion on getting the "tablet size" protectors in a 2-pack.

Will do.

Thanks everyone!

Save yourself some time and just cover the entire face plate with one piece. I've been doing it for years and it works great. It also offers better protection overall.

That sounds like a good idea.
As the actual screen portion is resessed from the rest of the face does the screen protector stay fixed to the screen or does it pop up in that recessed area?

In the image you can see where it drops down to the recessed screen . That causes about an 1/8 inch lifted area that has never bothered me. I can read all the information off the screen that I need. When I ever take the Z#gg cover off (after a couple of years since they are so tough) the entire display and control panel looks like it did the day I bought it.

Very good idea. I considered that, but I expect I will buy a control box cover with visor (hopefully to make the screen a bit easier to see in sunny conditions), so I opted just to do the screen itself. If I decide against (or for some reason get talked out of) the control box cover, I will re-do the Z#gg cover to fit over the entire front panel, like you did.

Thanks!

My CTX screen is easier to read in the sun than in the shade.

Just covered my faceplate, I like it better than just screen cover I had. Great idea for beach hunting.

I spent a ton getting fancy protectors and then couldn't see the screen as well. I got the ones that were touted as the best of the best. Finally just took it off, still can't see tiny print/icons very well. May be related to my photo gray glasses (not getting next time) or just lousy eyes.

Interesting point. I bought/applied an "HD" screen protector from that Z company that can't be spelled out on this forum for some reason. Anyway, it is indeed a bit hard to see my screen; target trace dots and such are a bit hard to see, unless they really start to "pile up" and "darken." I never used the machine WITHOUT the screen protector, so don't know if the protector is cutting the visibility of the screen any, or not -- and I'd hate to take it off, just to see, and then find out it's the same with or without.

Do most of you run with the backlight on, at all times, and brightness of the backlight at 10? I don't think there are any other "settings" to help with screen visibility, such as brightness, contrast, etc., right?

I always have the backlight on at the highest setting.
