With the Blisstook, a ferrous target will be broken and sometimes it is best to turn 90 degrees and swing ago because the initial swing may sound good. The reason why is that a elongated piece of iron will "look" good to the detector but by turning, the target is now "seen" differently and will result in broken audio.
A good non-ferrous target will "hit harder (IMHO) and will be smooth, regardless of the direction of the swing of the target.
It will take a little while to learn the audio and the proper settings but will come with 10-12 hours of use.
Best to you, Richard

very simple if there is no break up in the tone and repeatable dig it! any slight crackle usually its some sort of iron foil mixd together sort of junk but just listen for the unbroken tone and dig, i love mine!

Dig it, hahaha!!! Like the others said there are tone differences and with time/use you will learn. I love my Relic so far....has found some deep targets that my other machines missed in a place I have gridded out and pounded over the past year. IH penny and flat button in 10"-11". The items were found at the base of the hole stuck in the dirt, so no fall back while digging.
