DeepTech Vista Gold and the 8" closed coil
Was out digging today in ideal weather conditions, warm and very windy and on soft ground, so just right for me to keep cool.
Wanted to give the 8" closed coil a whirl on the Vista Gold and I soon found out it's a great match up for this machine and also excels around iron and has punch, the sparky Vista Gold really does like this coil for sure.
This coil makes for a great happy medium between the standard 11" Pitbull coil and say the Super Six or 5.7 coil.
It offers great separation on targets and good depth as said, I would say it's more focused than the 11" Pitbull coil but I will do further testing to confirm this as the Pitbull is a great all rounder for its size.
My first signal of the day was a thimble next to iron and right near the gate of the field, surprised I missed this target before as it was a cracking signal but with a slight iron buzz and around 6 inches down.
After this I was finding signals galore for a good time, but these were minuscule shards of metal that I've not really noticed with the gold before on this certain field.
Maybe due to the cows have been in this field for the last month chomping away and I was able to get the coil lower than normal.
As there was so many tiny signals I started then to run around 20-25 on the sensitivity and raised the coil a little to avoid these scraps that the probe barley picked up, the Vista Gold loves these tiny items so was no issue for the machine to see, at the end of the day it's apart of the Vista Golds job to find such items by running at 25 kHz.
Once I cleared this area I was able to open the taps and let the Vista Golds full potential free, even with boost on and flat out on the sensitivity the Gold remained edgy but stable on the clean land, this is when I found the some deep items and saw the other side of what this coil is capable of and around a good bit of iron also.
Really impressed and for sure a coil I will now be using more often, I will do some tests and show in a video what the differences are between this 8" close coil and the 11" Pitbull coil soon.
Good days detecting for sure and found a few firsts, lead soldier and a pastry cutter wheel... also thought I found my first hoard with a belting crystal clean signal but was a chunk of lead like I've not seen before.
No big deal on the finds front but good enough to come away from the field happy
