Just got me the atx and am having a strange problem when i try to run it hot in the water ie do a factory reset all i get is a loud steady threshold that doesnt detect metal such as my scoop, works ok when i ground balance it in the water with a threshold that can drift from high to low. On the beach otta of the water i can factory reset it and it runs hot will no problem ( no ground balance) so my question is why cant i run with no GB in the water ? Also 3 red lights on the right of the screen ( 11 12 13 ) stay lite up when i try to detect in the water with no ground balance. My beach is not mineralized as i run the ctx at 30 sens with no problem what am i doing wrong thanks jimmy

Sounds to me like it's picking up the bottom. Maybe more mineralized than you think? Heavy on the salt in the water? Test the depth with the gb on. That may be just fine.

I've heard the ctx has no depth in very mineralized salt water here on the west coast. I've hunted a very mineralized fresh water lake with my ctx sensitivity max it ran smooth but don't think I'm getting the depth as I should. The ATX is a monster when it comes to mineralized ground and goes deep! I use the the ctx for fresh drops only.

I never bother with the pin point button. I just wiggle back and forth and move the coil back until no target. Move forward again until it signals. Scoop at the front of coil. BTW, I run my sensitivity around 8, but I have lots of real hot rocks around. Still get killer depth.

Are you in non-motion mode? That's what you are in when you get 3 stationary red lights. Try motion mode......

Hi John no im in motion mode as i do the factory reset in the water then get the 3 red lights solid which wont pick up metal so then i ground balance and it runs good, Im having a hard time pinpointing with the pinpoint button in the water also doesnt seem to work or maybe im not doing it right thanks for the responses
