1854 LC found, Wake County, NC, outskirts of Garner

Near the location of where an 1840's home once stood in the woods, about 50 yards from the homestead, I dug this nice 1854 large cent. I found it about 3" down near a tree, that surely was not there when it was dropped. Surely there is more in the area and I will continue the search for more. Not much wear, high relief. Too bad the soil does a job on these beauties. Using Fisher F-75 LTD. I normally hunt with 0 disc. I was finding too many shotgun shells, so kicked disc up to 45. Next time I will test when the shotgun shells just disappear and run that.

Sweet find I just hit a 1802 draped bust last sat in a school yard and some silver!

Nice score....I don’t mind finding shotgun shells in an old place like that as it proves you are able to hit non ferrous targets thru a small amount of ferrous...good luck..

Nice LC - congrats !

OK. I am a long-time member of the forum but, new to the new format. It appears some folks are commenting as they can see the coin. I don't see a picture if there is one.

Thats because there is no picture
