After Sunday service I decided to hit a old school that’s been closed for years.
I’ve hunted here a few times it’s directly next to Fort Griswold obviously that’s off limit but I was determined to find something good here it has Cut plugs in the yard but that never deters me I found a few nice wheats then a 1905 Indian I’ve been on a roll with Indians !
Then the $1.00 coin then a 1946 Rosie the mercury was from Friday afternoon another school.
Then I found what looks like a small hem weight then the navy button it was about 7” down a little lemon juice made it shine quickly!

Those are some very nice finds. I hate to be the one to tell you, but your Navy button is post CW. Jacob Reed's firm was established in 1824 and lasted to 1980. Reed was a tailor who did a trade in Army and Navy goods. He was out of business in July 1877 but reestablished as Jacob Reed & Sons. All known backmarks are post CW with one exception, an eagle "A" button c.1840 backmarked "Jacob Reed/Philadelphia" 20 or 21mm.
I also think tour small hem weight was used to button the fly on a pair of pants.

Thanks fyrffytr1 Jeff and Steve this school is tough to find any silver at but the nox did ok.

Nice finds, esp. the Navy button. I'm partial to them I suppose because I was in the Navy. An anchor is easier to spot, for me.
