Wilson VLF 710

after about 30 years I acquired another VLF 710. this one needs repair. taking it apart to double check any obvious problems I noticed that it does not have the inner foil shield that my other VLF 710 has. since I do not have both of them running I cannot compare. but wondering what advantage or disadvantage does this foil shield have? I have owned numerous Wilson's over the years and do not recall this foil shield in any except for the VLF 710. so any info would be appreciated. thanks

Possible EMI shielding.

Hi Joe, the foil shielding provides a protection from EMI interference. I think it is grounded to the circuit ground.

I am interested in photos of the PCB, especially the little vertical board. Can you please put some photos of the internals.

Thanks, I already have that picture. I should have been more clear on my request. What I would like to do is reverse engineering the schematic.
I would like photos of the front and back of the vertical board and other photos of the area where it connects to the main board. You don't have to go out of your way. I just thought I'd ask.
Most of the time the chip on the vertical board is bad. This is a common thing in such circuits.

I got the photo off the Nabble Compass forum. I don't have a VLF-710 currently. Actually I did have, but sold it due to non functional condition. Here is a link for more photos and you have to be a member to access them. If you can contact Phil(Grandmazhouse) he may be able to help you. I own an ATD and any information about it's circuitry would be helpful.

You truely are the "Bob Lazar" of reverse enginering of metal detectors.

I'd volunteer an ATD for study, but I'd be wanting a clone if production was possible.
