Simplex coil!

ToneTime

I was out with my simplex again this time with my 8.5” round coil. I got a good hi tone in park 1 and hi vdi’s. It reminded me of a deep iron signal I was used too on the large rusty railroad nuts. I was not familiar with this coil and still learning the machine so I dug deep. I was about 8 to 9” down and signal still at the bottom of the hole. I was sure it was going to be square iron nut. I took one more pop with the digger and out popped the large cent! Ohh the excitement when I saw it there. I only ever found one other one 1842. This one was a matron head and after clean up I believe to be 1818, it had heavy wear. My new oldest coin find. So happy with the simplex and new coil! I also dug a well worn 1880 IHP to end the day.

That round coil is deep and lighter! I love the balance.
