Just ordered my XP Deus

Looking forward to learning a new machine.
Mostly do coins and relics.
Any tips for starters out appreciated!
Start out with the presets until you feel confident enough for some tweaking...numerous videos on YouTube from Gary B to watch also. Also keep your eye on this forum for some good tips. Lots of experience on here. Good luck!

Agree. Also don't mess with the Reacitivity too much at first. I normally use "2" or "2.5". Learn the wiggle for pinpointing--wiggle and pull coil back to you. When sound stops the target is under the Logo at the coil tip. This is a fast way to pinpoint. Don't do heavy trash area for a while. Right where the heavy trash starts to thin out is better. A ton of youtube videos. ID NORM is a whole lot easier because the VDI is the same for the different frequencies. Be careful with Ground Balance. Too low and it will chatter. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Agreed, stay with presets for a while. They really are good for most hunting conditions. Tones, tones, tones. Learn the machine with your focus on the audio rather than the visual. It doesn't matter if you use multi tones or full tones.......whatever floats your boat. The Deus is really at its best when used as a tone machine. Did I mention you should focus on the audio?? Well just in case I didn't....focus on the audio. ;)

About seven years ago I let a dealer talk me into getting a Deus sight unseen which I never do. Its now my go to machine. IMO most versatile of of all the machines for different type of hunting. A little higher learning curve so yea cleaner sights first like a yard where you can open w/o notching and dig everything and see how all sound come up. You didnt say which coils your doing. On HF coils you can't do norm off which is ok but if you have x35 and start doing trashier sites I prefer to notch off which lets you spread your different tones out more to pick up stuff(mostly coins) easier. This machine in out of sight for separating iron from good targets. Let some iron sounds come through and if you hear a good tone DIG. Found a V nickel in my front year(old house) with 8 nails surrounding it. Could go one but you get the idea.

Be patience and stick to one program. Don't try switching things around to see what everything does, that will come in time as you learn what the machine does.
Put some coins on a clean area of ground and get a reading of what they both close to the coil and several inches from the coil. What works for others may or may not work for you. Patience, Patience Patience.

I forgot to mention on the youtube videos. Some are misleading so best to stick with something like the XP Skill School at least iuntil you get going good.
