A true shout out to a really fine made product... After approx 20+ yrs of using these headfones I finally had to retire them. The earcuffs and the inner thin foam covering the speaker are SHOT !! Don't think anyone repairs these and probably not even worth it.. Have brand new backup Killer Bees and a pair of sunray Pro gold.. If either of these last as long as the grey ghost , they will outlive me..

Had mine now for about 10 years. The vinyl ear-cups are starting to come loose from the frame but the tone quality is still there. They were a gigantic step up from the ones that came with the detector (package type deal). These fit a 1000% better on my head too.
 
I heard many rave about the gray ghost headphones, but I have a pair of originals that did not perform well out of the box. The very first time I used them the sound would come and go, and the volume control had to be adjusted to max to hear anything and then it was too loud.
They were so bad I just hunted without headphones that day.
I let my buddy try them and he got the same results.
Someone later I sent them in and the volume control was replaced.
The sound does not come and go like before, but the adjustment is still terrible on them.
I also have a set of Killer AB’s and sunray pro golds and in my opinion, they are superior to the gray ghost that I have.
The build of the gray ghost headphones is good, but the volume adjustment is nowher near as good as the other headphones I mentioned.
 
I’ve got a pair of deepwoods that have had a rough life.They’ve been returned twice with quick no charge repairs for broken earmuff holders,probably from my”bull in a China shop” handling.I think they’re fifteen years old and still get used regularly.Good Product,better service!

Thats too bad on your experience, but I gotta believe your in the minority with the experience you had... I'll see how well these killer bees work. They seem to be built pretty well also, and volume seem sufficient too.. but this is just basement testing also.. The true test is out in the fields..

How many yrs ago was the repair on your fones ?? I thought this company was no longer around..
 
It’s been a few years.My pair still work pretty good,but when they go I still have a pair of White’s Prostars which I think are made by Detector Pro…
 
I've had my Sun Ray Pro Gold headphones for about 15 years. They have taken a lot of use. They have a lifetime warranty as long as you sent in the warranty card when purchased new. The toggle switch boots and the earcup pads are not covered. I have sent mine in twice over the years. (last time was in Oct.) They do a great job repairing them and have a fast turn around time. The only downside is the $24 service charge required. But this is much cheaper than purchasing a new pair. Also like you, I have a pair of Killer Bee's for backup.

Google Detector Pro. Web site says how to handle repairs. I've got an Original pair that I bought with the Camo F 75 when the 75 first came out. 16 or so years ago now, and still going strong after a (no charge) cuff repair 3-4 years ago. HH jim tn
