Which pin pointer

oldkoot

Well-known member
I have been using the same Garrett original pin pointer that I purchased in 2010 i believe that is when Garrett first came out with the first pro pointer, it is still going strong to this day have never had any issues with it and i have beat the heck of out it, but I have decided to purchase a new pin pointer i am considering two the fisher F pulse and the Nokta/Macro 2in1 pulse dive

need opinions on which one people feel would be best, i know I can purchase a new Garrett carrot but I would like to try one of the pulse pin pointers so please give me opinions on the two i asked about, which one sees deeper and which one people have seen the fewest problems with

thanks for reading and any and all constructive opinions appreciated

I have two Garrett Propointer II’s, both of which are getting some age on them.I’ve tried several others, including the Carrot,F-Pulse,the newer White’s,and one of the cheaper Minelabs. I’m more for sending my Propointer II’s in for an overhaul than trying to adjust to any of the others, several of which are gathering dust.Quick on/off,simple retune, durable along with good ergonomics.

I have a Minelab pro find 35 and really like it. I had a Minelab regular profind for years with no issues. If you have had that good of luck with your garret. I would stick with garret.

The Mi4 from Xp is great , not expensive is rechargeable, operates in pitch mode which I prefer as well as pulse, vibrate and both. Well made. Don’t know why it’s not more popular with non Deus users

I use 2 Pinpointers.

I have a Garrett Z-Lynk- for each of my Garrett's with the MS-3 wireless headphones as well.

For all my other detectors I have two of the excellent Pulse-Dive Pointers. They work great and one stays in the vehicle full-time.

I use the Fisher/Tek Pulse unit you mention, and it's currently my favorite.
(And I've used pretty much all pinpointers, with the exception of the N/M brand.)

The only issue with any pulse pinpointer (that can potentially drive you crazy), is that pulse anything....detector or pinpointer....doesn't detect small bits of foil at all well.
If you're not aware of that, you can spend quite a bit of time chasing foil bit 'ghosts' that your detector sees, but your pinpointer doesn't.
(In all fairness, this can be an advantage, or disadvantage...depending on your needs/point of view.)

The biggest advantage of a pulse pinpointer, IMO, is the consistently better depth you get in mineralized ground.

Whichever you choose, good luck, and HH!

I have an old whites pinpointer that works great but never use it because ive never seen the point. We did without pinpointers for years and ive never had any problem finding any target with the wave the handful of soil across the coil method. Its quite hilarious sometimes watching people with pinpointers taking ages to find small targets. Each to their own.😆

I can find a target way faster with a pinpointer. And I like to see all the iron in the hole. Let’s me know how good me and my detector are doing. I never had a pinpointer for years. And then I got a good one. Woah what a difference. I had an old whites before the trx came out.I didn’t care for it. My first good one was a Minelab profind. I would just soon go without also. But you are a good detectorist nauiti. You could probably find the target quicker than me. But we would both be having a blast. To each his own.

I use the carrot but have the Pro-find 35 which I sent in for repairs Minelab sent me a brand new one still in the box
I also have a brand new black garrett pin-pointer in the box that came out of a Garrett CSI Kit
But I have been using this carrot forever it seems before that I use the Minelab Pro-find 25

Thanks for all the responses but no one has actually answered my question so to clarify

I would like to know from forum members between the Fisher F Pulse pin pointer and the 2in1 Nokta/Macro Pulse Dive pin pointer which one has the fewest issues and which one is deeper or more sensitive to targets would like to know the good and the bad of both

Again thanks to each and everyone that replied

..... opinions on the two i asked about, which one sees deeper and which one people have seen the fewest problems...."
The first fisher I had was great but quit working for no reason. The replacement isn't as good but is still great. Deep, solid and compart.
I considered the n/m untill I realized how huge it was. Their quality has always been great but that's all I know.

I don’t care for pinpointers that have to be programmed with the on/off button.I want to push for on,push again for off.

I could only recommend the Garrett Carrot as that is the one that I have and like. You can adjust it to different levels and it is great in the water too. One of my friends had a fisher pin pointer at the start of the day one week, at the end of the day he was using the garret carrot. He told me that the garret worked better.

Can anyone tell me if there is a pinpointer that just points at the tip, not 360%, I find targets in the side of the plug, and the pointer goses off all the way to the botton of the hole. I lost my TRX from Whites, and can't find any that works close to it. I like to set mine to go as deep as it can so if target is not to deep i can point from top of ground before i dig. Thanks for any help, flintstone

Several provide the ability to detune by turning the pointer off and then back on while holding it close to the target,I know that the original propointer & II do…
