Deus II 9" or 11" coil

Good question, I was wondering the same. In MY mind, this machine is going to be for getting difficult targets out of difficult areas with better separation and ID at the same time. That’s ME, hunting parks, schools and fairground sites in the US in amongst conductive trash and also many nails. In these places that are basically a “junk/nail/coin stew”, getting depth usually isn’t going to happen to any great extent to begin with, so I’m thinking the 9” coil will likely be better for what I do. If I’m out in the open where there’s little junk but super deep coins, I have other equipment for that. But the stew has me stymied right now, I’m just considering a different spoon to stir it with.

Thank You for the replies, with a future 13" coil coming soon I was going to start in the middle with the 11" as I do an assortment of detecting but after watching the performance of the 9" on recent videos (on beach and open land) a was being swayed to the 9" and even more so with your comments.

Since 99% of my hunting is on beaches, I ordered the 11" coil. I may get a 9" at some point but that's TBD.

9 as I have the 11' and 6 for my nox..

Depends (mostly) on where you plan and how you plan to hunt. For open fields with little iron or beach hunting, 11" but for iron laden fields and trashy parks, the 9" will be better. I originally had the LF 11" coil and it proved too noisy and a bit too nose heavy for me. Since I hunt mainly trashy parks, I traded the 11"LF coil to a gentleman for a 9" LF coil. Since then I have sold the 9" LF coil and purchased the 9" X-35 coil which I truly love! If you can afford it, BOTH coils are the way to go! Be prepared!

I have similar thoughts about the selection - I've really loved my x35 9" coil. Watching a lot of the Deus 2 initial field tests makes me think that the 9" FMF coil is really deep for its' diameter - and i ask myself, "will the 11" give additional depth? or will it just cover more ground?" I have the 11" on order but frequently have thoughts about just getting the 9". There's a much longer queue to purchase a Deus 2 with the 9" coil package. Decisions decisions.

Thanks for all your replies and advice. After a few weeks of trying to decide which coil was best my mind was made up this morning. The first main delivery of the XP Deus II to the UK stores arrived at 9am this morning. In the UK I could not find a dealer that would take a pre-order and only one dealer used an order list system which my name was added to at number 85 (that was 2 weeks ago) and they only expected 32 units in. I had contacted another 5 dealers and all emailed yesterday saying the new machines were arriving and would be on sale from 9am today.

Yesterday I checked with all 5 dealers and due to the high demands 4 of the 5 dealers would only take online orders for the Deus II with only 1 tacking phone orders as well, all from 9am. I started online at 8.45am today but found the websites very difficult to access and extremely slow possibly due to volume of people trying to access them. My wife started at 9am and managed to telephone the order through at 9.15am and they only had 3 of the 11" package left so I had Hobsons choice. Ironically after the euphoria of placing the order I checked all the other dealers 15 minutes later and everyone was sold out, with next delivery estimated at 2- 3 weeks.

I am one happy bunny, now do I cancel the wife's new vacuum cleaner and order a 9" coil as well and take the wrath of a BIG women?

Ahhh, keep the wife happy, use the 11" coil with joy for a while and when the dust settles after a couple months or so, revisit the 9" coil pro's and con's and go from there. Stick with that old adage, "never get between a man's coil and a women's vacuum." Good luck! HH Jim Tn

Excellent, excellent advice from Jim tn!!!!! :)-------It just isn't worth the personal physical damage that (may well) occur from stirring up the little lady---you know---happy wife--happy life (all that stuff).------BTW----I would of ordered the 9" coil in the first place---WHATEVER was you thinking?? (I'm kiddin) :)

Del,

I would have figured you and Patsy for a first in line couple for Deus 2's . . . . guess i would have been figuring completely WRONG!. Shows how much I know about things. I'm on the list of our Local XP Juice dealer for the 11" variety. Looking to see how it compares with my 800 on the deep stuff - I'll let you know. (y)

Rich -

9" for me too. But what I think is really great is having a choice. How many companies give you a choice for the stock coil. I don't like 11" coils so the choice was easy for me. I'm a little surprised so many people are choosing the 9. Are you paying attention Minelab and Nokta ?

I have all the coils now but recently had only three inch coils ( 1 hf 9x5, 1 hf 9 inch round coil, 1 lf x35 9 inch coil ). Just recently I got the lf x3511 inch coil. So now I have all the coils except the lf x35 11x13 coil which I have No interest in.
I generally hunt parks and play grounds with the 9 inch coils, but recently have tried the lf x35 11 inch coil. I still like the hf 9x5 coil for it's separation ability finding good targets right next to junk. Opened up a new ball field for me.

I did wind up getting the D2 last October with the 9” coil and it is STELLAR for eeking out coins in really bad places! I also have the 11x13 now but that’s for big open places along with my other machines…
