Since borrowing a friend 600 I have decided to get a Nox of my own. I was thinking that I had to buy OEM Minelab wireless headphones, but I was just reading that I could buy some aftermarket ones like the ones linked below and they will work just fine? And these would work with the 600 as well?

If so, that is great because I was thinking I'd have to spend the money for the 800 in order to get the wireless headphones. I'm sure hoping this is correct and I can save myself some money.

I don't know anything about the ones you posted but logically they should connect and work. The ones I have used for years and are Tronds. They appear to be out of stock, like a lot of brands. May be the supply chain issue. Someone should chime in. My Tronds were $59. Not one problem.
 
Don't know about the headphones you're looking at. but you also get the wireless module with the 800 so you can use regular headphones wirelessly, which is my go to. What were you using before?

I tried the WM08 module one day, and it was ok but it did lose connection if I turned the wrong direction, plus I just never want a wire around my head again. IMPO, the 600 is a better deal for the cost difference, with the ability to get a wire free set of Bluetooth LL headphone for $60 plus or minus.
 
Thanks for confirming the aftermarket stuff does link up. Feeling pretty good about getting a 600 now.
 
GA1dad -- yes -- LOW LATENCY (LL) is the most important characteristic you need. Bluetooth with aptX LOW LATENCY. It MUST be LOW LATENCY. That is what assures the "delay-free" transmission from the unit to the headphones. Regular bluetooth or aptX are NOT sufficient...the "LL" is a specific type of Bluetooth headphone.

The ones you linked, are a "BT80" model headphone; the same as the Minelab ones (which they call "ML80"), and the Tronds, and the Miccus ones, and several others. A few BT80 models have slightly different tonal qualities (some emphasize bass a bit more, some don't), and there is a model with a few other "features" on it, but basically they are all the same. The ones you linked ARE aptX LOW LATENCY -- which is assured by the fact that they specify that they include the Qualcomm CSR8670 chipset. THAT chipset is one of the ones that is a Low-Latency chipset. You would be good to go with those; the ONLY chance that you wouldn't be, is there are occasional pairing issues with some sets, and the EQX. Lots of research on my part has gone into trying to figure out what the that incompatibility is caused by, and I have been unable to reach a conclusion. I have basically the EXACT phones as the ones you linked, Bluetooth version 4.1, and they work/pair/sync perfectly. Meanwhile, though, a few folks have had pairing issues with the "BT80" phones and their Equinox, and have assumed the issue to be that BT 4.2 or even 5.0 versions are required. But, I've done a ton of research and testing, and have never been able to confirm that -- or to assign any other reason to that occasional pairing incompatibilities. I can say for sure that I have confirmed pairing of 4.1, 4.2, and 5.0 version BT80 phones to various Equinoxes...so why some won't pair is a mystery that I have chalked up to something faulty within a particular pair of headphones (an electronic issue), and NOT a general/broad incompatibility of any sort, but that's a tenuous conclusion.

BOTTOM LINE, if you buy those phones, you SHOULD be good to go; I would buy them, confident that they would work (because they SHOULD), and then if you can't pair them, read your manual, and/or visit here to get specific pairing instructions. In the end, if others can help you confirm that for some reason they WILL NOT PAIR, you can always return them as it would suggest a flaw in the phones. Again, I have an identical pair (just stamped with a different "brand," but produced by the same factory in China), and mine work perfectly -- and have for 3 1/2 years now.

I also have the AKSONIC headphones and they work really good, pair up easily and sounds are clear. The only thing I had to get use to is the low bass tone which is not a problem. And at $60.00 a really good deal compared to the overpriced Minelab brand.

The Amazon description says the AKSONIC phones are 4.1 I'd personally hold out for at least 4.2. Jm2c

The AKSONIC headphones work, I have the Equinox 600 and they do the job. Order from Amazon and if they are not what you expect, send them back for a full refund, problem solved.
 
PAWW wavesound are what I use but someone posted the new ones have a different BT that may not connect.
Mine did but were slow to connect once in a while. I still used them plugged into the WM-08 velcroed onto the headphone headband with a short cable.

Another thing if you are beach hunting or have hearing loss, these have active noise cancellation. If you go this route make sure the BT works with the Nox.

Yes, that "low bass" sound is what the ML80 headphones have, from Minelab, and what SOME of these "BT80" headphones also have. The BT80 version I have, do NOT have that deep bass sound profile; the high tones are clearer/crisper as a result. The Miccus phones, like mine, also are not the "bass-heavy" model of BT80. It sounds like these AKSONIC ones are the more bass-heavy variety, more like the stock Minelab ML80 version.

Actually for the money spent, the 800 is well worth the 200 dollars more because of the two gold modes plus the extra two higher single search frequencies and more adjustments available.

Having finally got over the Covid Pneumonia and returned to work, I have been able to get out and swing my Nox 600 a few times over the last week or so. Still getting to know it. As for headphones, last weekend I found these Koss units for $20 and decided to take a gamble at that price. I figured if nothing else, I could use them for music. They are 4.2 bluetooth and latency is not mentioned anywhere on the box or their website. To start off with I went on youtube and found some videos designed to check latency and they seemed to work fine. I have taken the headphones detecting twice now and have noticed nothing wrong with them. Guess my $20 gamble paid off.

Remeber if your going t submerge your Nox you'll have to have amphibious headphones, Blu Tooth doesn't work through water
