XP Detectors....

XP Detectors put their new release on the table for testing. Those whose table they were on grabbed them and went to work. I have given the testors a bit of a hard time in the past couple weeks but I am better understanding as time goes on. It is XP that I feel has mismanaged the D2 release and not those chosen to test them.
Just wanted to get that off my chest.
You know who you are ;)

When you say “mismanage” do you mean not sending them out more equally around the world? Or what happened with the managing of things? The pre-orders?

I don't know what would have made it better but the fact that there were so precious few that had them really didn't help matters. Did piss me off a bit. But it still goes on but I'm getting more used to it.
The pre-orders were and are BS. Some dealer keep my $1600.00 or whatever for months, interest free? What sort of crap is that?

I know of three different dealers that are taking pre-orders, but not charging customers until the detectors come in and get shipped. I personally would never pay for a pre order months before the detector came into the dealer. HH jim tn

I agree, I wouldn’t and couldn’t hang that kind of money out there that long. And without a SPECIFIC DATE as to when it would show up?….no chance. If I knew exactly when it would come depending on my place in line, perhaps. MARKETING of any product requires hype and the feeling of exclusivity in favor of those who choose to afford it, “pre-orders” just add to that. More demand than product seems like a good thing for the manufacturer, but if they can’t keep a reasonable pace, that money will be spent elsewhere as people tire of waiting. The price is already a limiting factor for most. Giving a prospective buyer too long to “think about it” usually results in a buyer retraction, which isn’t great for the company. HOWEVER….if it’s proven by a wide variety of hunters to be outrageously good at what they need it to be good at, customers won’t be a problem.

Jim good morning. Not sure if you can do it here, but if you could PM those dealers I would appreciate it. The ones I have talked to so far all want payment up front. I have no problem with a deposit. I wound up paying in full 6 mo. ahead of the Equinox's being shipped and then was not told I could receive a veterans discount. So paying up front sticks in my craw a little. Thanks, Mark

I talked to a few dealers (&some are sponsors) a lot wanted pre-pay or a deposit.
One wanting full pre-pay to get on the list wouldn't even give me an idea of where I would be on that list.
NO thank you
I'll wait and see where the shipments land.

I'm not much on the preorder either and will probably get one when the dust settles. No hurry here. Hope you preorder guys get them real soon.

I paid for mine in full to guarantee I would get one from the first shipment. Dealers can't hold a detector for a long time waiting for the customer to finish paying for it after he put a deposit. The customer might change his mind. The dealer I went through has a list of customers that paid in full and ones that put down a deposit. Paid in full customers get theirs first. I don't think I am going to miss the pennies that I would get in interest for that time.

Looks like 2 camps….IS it a good idea to have one of “the first”? Since we all know things work out perfectly each time every time(har har) I would want to make sure there isn’t some issue that got overlooked that’s going to cause me a bunch of trouble in the long run. Remember the wobbly ass shafts on the Equinox? Yeah, that would chap me. For those who chose to be the Guinea pigs, I commend your trust! I actually think this release will be fine though, just a gut feeling. I really haven’t heard of problems with XP products in general. Now they just have to crank them out!

That’s why I would never prepay with the equinox debacle I will just wait my Nox is still finding plenty of silver and some gold …

I see lots of Deus II testers in Europe, very little here in the US. Mismanaged? I don't know that many detectorists who owned a Deus here in the US. I think we were the few rather than the many. Tough time of year in the US for field testing. World around me is pretty frozen.

My feeling about pre-paying in full for a Pre-order. No. Would I do a deposit of say $50-$100. Yes. But I would rather not. My XP dealer took my name, preference for 9" or 11" FMF coil and any additional accessories I wanted. Done. I bought my Deus 1 from him and coils and other stuff. He's great to work with. Great to hunt with as well.

My thoughts are this, if you don't like the way your dealer does business, why are you doing business with them? Give your position some thought.

Second, considering the emotional nature / impulsiveness of some buyers, I can understand that a dealer would want something to secure a position on a waiting list that the dealer may commit significant money to with their distributor. Would suck to be that dealer that orders 10 and 7 people drop due to buyers regret, change of mind / situation, or they found one faster on a different list with another dealer.

Enough said. I hope everybody is able to get what they've paid for, those waiting the item wanted and those not sure get the info needed to make their own decision.

My dealer did what Rich's dealer did. I bought a couple Deus coils, the backpack, a case, and a couple other things from him after getting a good deal on a used Deus online.

I'm not sure I would like the "pay in full and wait for a number of months" method. If there wasn't a shop in my area, I'd be good with a deposit, I think.

I hope we see some here soon like everyone else.

I think my and your dealer are one and the same.. Not paying up front either.

My local Mom & Pop dealer asked for $200 down. I have purchased from this shop many times before. I trust him easily. . . only hope he doesn't kick the bucket before hand, awful to say, but that ole boy is getting up there.

This is true Steve. And also, keep in mind, the buyers kicking the bucket before they receive their new metal detectors. My wife has already told me that she has no intention of using this metal detector. We all just need information on arrival. Is XP afraid of cancelations if we are told when they will actually arrive? If that date is farther out there than we want to wait?

I paid for mine in full at the time I preordered
But I see now they have something called Lay-buy where there’s a fee and deposit. Not sure if they offered that when I ordered in early December, but too late now for that. I’d be fine with receiving my order by end of February due to weather but sure hope it isn’t later than that.
