Ok I bought the machine with my money. I have been thru 3 pods and now this one is acting up. Ok it is also out of warranty so when it goes it is trash! I thought it went so I was mad... Poor build quality..

If I have 4 Deus II remotes fail in less than 4 years I will throw it like a football across my yard....

You can always give it to me😉😂😂

C'mon guys thats funny. I can understand his frustration. I have used an 800 since they first came out and I have been through 2 pods, a shaft and a coil replacement . Unlike Callabash I love my Equinox with all its short comings. Back in the day, on the heels of the Etrac and CTX people were asking for A light weight, waterproof less expensive alternative and Minelab did just that with the then brand new Multi-IQ platform. Unfortunately it was little too flimsy and quality control was lacking.. But if memory serve me correct people were complaining about the Deus shaft when it came out. I have no doubt Minelab will address the issues with their next release. And I'm sure XP and Nokta heard the complaints and addressed them in the Deus ll and Legend. Nokta's have always appeared to be pretty ruggedly built. Both machines smoke the Equinox in build quality. But my 800s still do a great job and I continue to find alot of cool stuff. I average about a 100 hunts a year so although not a heavy hitter by some standards more than a casual mdr. My 2 cents,
I will say the Deus ll has my attention and in no small part to Callabash's videos. He has done more to venerate the Deus ll with his videos and is probably responsible for most of the pre-orders in this country. IMO XP should compensate him for all has hard work.
Keep it up, love the videos. Mark

This is the Not forum so I am not going to get into the Deus II just keep watching it..

How to video...
Thanks for the video calabash.. This is a big eye opener to buying used, Honestly I never worried much about warranty cause most machines no matter what brand just seem built to last. But man, at $600 to $700 for a used 800 with no warranty, let’s just say this video made up my mind I’ll never buy one without warranty.

It's not a malfunction at all. I think your Equinox is possessed. You ditching it for a Deus will only make it worse. :)

I sure hope mine lasts longer than that.

Everything in life is made disposable that is life.

With everything surface mount it is not cost effective to repair so we have to throw it away. Sad but true. I am sure some of it could be fixed but we are a throw away society

Not my oll Suburban Craftsman tractors.
Just keep going an going an going. 🤔🙂

LOL! That's funny.
But it would not be so funny if mine did that.
Out of the dozen or so of detectors I have owned only 2 of them were brand new. I bought a new Equinox about a year ago.
It's been treated with kid gloves because of the known problems. For instance, I don't use it as a cane, do not crank down on the coil bolt, and have other detectors to go wading with.

I do like the EQ and consider it the best detector I have owned.
However, I would look to another manufacturer if it quit for no reason, especially if went out of my way to not abuse it.

My warranty runs out in March. Last October my screen died and I sent the detecter head to the Detector Center and they promptly sent me a new replacement.
My third headphones are being delivered Wednesday. The previous 2 had the power button go bad so they couldn't be turned on. The Detector Center has quickly sent me replacements each time.
I don't have great concern if the headphones go bad again after warranty runs out. The WM 08 Module works fine with wired headphones.
I have liked my Equinox 800 very much. but if it goes out again after warranty runs out, what will it cost to repair or replace the head? Minelab seems to have big Quality Control issues. If cost for repair or replacement are too much, I may have to rethink a new brand and or model.
Does anyone else feel this way or have issues with their Equinox?

I talked to Minelab customer service about replacing the control pod on my 800 after the warranty expired. You're looking at $350, but you get a 3-year warranty with it. I don't remember what she quoted on replacing the 600 control pod.
