Spike?

Found this spike while hunting my local beach after a storm. It's been sitting on my desk since. Just started reading a book by Terry Shannon on the "Treasure Coast" and saw pictures in his book that he called "Bronze Ships Spikes". They looked very similar to what I found. Any help would be appreciated!

Nope, I'm on a NC beach. I was just reading the book and saw a picture that looked like what I had.

Definately looks like an early repair nail to me.......early because it is a hammered nail and not cut.This could mean a ship wreck is close by,repair nails were usually carried in some kind of container such as a wooden box or wrapped in some sort of material.
The reason it looks (to me) like an unused repair nail is the fact the head still has very well defined edges......nails that have already been in a ships structure usually have distorted and well beaten heads on them.

I'm not sure what it is made of. There only seems to be surface corrosion, but no rust.

Definitely not iron. Rang in as a high tone on my NOX 600 in Beach II mode. I don't remeber the ID. Magnet does not stick. Good idea!

From a ship wreck most likely.
I would be working that beech day and night.
Gotta be some Gold nearby.
Scuba diving maybe.
