Great Big Silver Weekend

Well-known member
All finds shown are from weekend hunts over the last 2 weekends at researched old public city parks and schools with my Minelab eTrac.
Most of the finds came last weekend from hunting in South Dakota.
The 2 walking liberty half dollars were pulled this past weekend and the franklin half dollar and standing liberty quarter was pulled the previous weekend.

It was terribly windy last weekend, but I kept at it; tried to stay out of the wind and ran into some old finds.
I started the day Saturday hitting a 08-45 (Ferrous/Conductivity numbers) signal. I was hoping it was part of a pocket spill because of the lower ferrous number. It ended up being a pocket spill. I first pulled up a 1947 silver dime, then a 1941 mercury dime and finally the 1941 half dollar.
There was a pile of wire laying on top of that silver necklace. It was a little hard to pinpoint that one and I gouged the back a little while digging it.
The tiny Saddle PIn (Tie Clip?) was over 1/2 foot deep and read like an Indian head penny.
The 1917 Half dollar was pulled Sunday and was about a 10-inch-deep coin. That read like a partially masked faint dime signal so I was surprised when I popped a half dollar.
Hopefully it will warm up a little more soon.
Thanks for looking!
Dave

Floodplaindetector--
Those are some EXCELLENT finds! Is that 1917-S Liberty Standing Quarter a Type 1 or Type 2? Best of luck and...
Happy Hunting!

KUDOS ! wisdom from a monkey.
Unlike you...I and numerous others no longer worship the Etrac. Get over yourself and grow up.

Someone said speechless, I had to look it up to spell it right!!!! Thats beyond speechless, thats AMAZING!!!

Spectacular Dave! You hit the big silver jackpot.

If i can ask, without giving too much info, how far from your home base do you typically travel on your detecting rounds?

Thanks for the responses, guys!

Regarding the questions: The 1917 SLQ is a type 2.

In reference to Mike's question about hunting distance: Here is more than a little info :)
That can completely vary for each weekend. Most all of the finds from this post were < 3 hours from home.
On Saturday's I always try to be swinging by 8 am so it is pretty common that I am on the road by 5:30 am.
I have a brother that lives in Nebraska also so I get down there when I can and stay with him. Last year I hunted city parks down to the Missouri border, the year before down to Topeka KS so
I have quite a big swath.
My wife does not detect but is always interested in what I find & I am constantly sending her pics from the field. She has the gift of gab and got a few old house permissions for me over the winter
Which I will hit this spring. One is 1899 so that will be refreshing hitting a private site vs public pounded areas.
