choices?

I used the D1 for 7 years before I got the D2. No regrets. D1 is a great machine. D2 is better. I have both coils. I prefer the 9" coil. If I mostly hunted fields or the beach, maybe I would prefer the 11". If you don't mind spending the extra money, there is no reason not to get the D2.
 
If you intend to dive be sure to get the bone conduction phones, otherwise maybe an 11” coil after spare coils are available. In any case you made a great choice. Good luck 🍀

I agree. I didn't pair it with my D1 because the 2-second delay drove me mad. ;) But I paired it with my D2 and there is no lag. I like it a lot.
