Question! Is the E-Trac really the best coin detector?

If you have answered your own question, why did you even post such nonsense ??????????(n)
Hi,

Good day to you also. Well the original post was on April 16th. The knowledge I possessed then, is not the same as it is today, May 31! Upon much further research, it's clear that they have made a lot of refinements and updates to the 3030 vs Track.

Please try to not be so adversarial, we are here for fun and enjoyment. Thanks!

The E-trac was and still is a great machine. It may be on the heavy side, but you have to deal with that. I have walked ahead of others with other machines only to have them stop me and ask if I could hear what they heard with their E-trac, I could not. They dug up at depth a $200 coin in front of me. I went back to the truck and got my E-trac out.
When I use the E-trac I go by sound more than meter.

I wish I could have learned all that in less than a month with my ctx3030.
One question, how many updates have you installed on your ctx ?

I rather suspect the Etrac is the silver coin machine every one says it is. I just bought a new CTX3030 7 months ago after selling my Nox 800. CTX is easier, quieter, and ID's targets so much better. Heavy, yes, use Doc's Swingything harness and all is well. Will it find rings? sure if you dig every target along the FE 12 linle.

Very good info...a little more than that for rings but right on !

I do believe ground conditions are a big factor. Most of my best finds are 10+ inches in NW OHIO.
Hey it won't let me send a message. I've got my etrac setup with the 110 pattern and not sure on the settings. I was curious if you'd be able to help? I've literally dug one coin... I have dug a ton of iron nails that hit in the silver range. I know I'm new to this detector and would appreciate any help.

I read Andy S was going to help you with settings.....so I said nothing ....did not want to confuse you with my settings vrs his.

I see you have read the post

etrac for beginners....a way to successfully dig silver ...long post for beginners

And the settings are here that I use for this pattern....

These should work for you for coins....especially silver...

Hey thanks! I never heard back from him so just trying to research all this stuff. Your post for beginners was very helpful to simplify things for sure. When I click on the link you provided it gives an error saying that post isn't available. I did Google it though and found that link but says for the 110 pattern. Is that the right one?I need to start basic and learn the machine before anything else.

use the silver pattern from "a way to successfully dig silver"and the settings from "a very successful coin pattern" post and you will pull silver if your coil crosses over it.
no need for anything else right now except time in the field

Ok so I had about an hour to run the detector with those settings. I got quite a few solid targets, however each one I dug was an iron nails or staple. Am I safe to assume that's going to be common for trash on those settings?

First ...You must turn 90° on each target....if it goes silent , it is iron....
Next....... move the ferrous setting up to 20. You need to find where the iron is coming in at...if not try a ferrous at 18.
see in the pic below

Well I'll be the first to admit, I completely forgot about turning 90 degrees to check... It's been a couple years since I detected. Any way I will reincorporate that back into my swing

also you could try 2 tone ferrous sounds.....iron will be a low tone and good targets will be a high tone...... keep your pattern and
change these two settings...
