Recovered post 1941 button which is primarily black in color. Back is marked Jewelers Products Corp, Prov, RI.
Could this color be specific to a Navy P-Coat? I’m thinking this button was new when dropped…….

Fyrffytr1 possibly identified it as a “great seal” button from 1910-1923. I think it was dropped in 1910, absolutely sharp detail….
 
That is a 1910-1923 Great Seal army button. The round rim was used from 1910-1927 but the black finish was used from 1910-1923.In 1927 the rim changed to a flatter style and IIRC it changed again slightly in the early 40s.
