Have had a heat wave and dry spell for 3 weeks now - dirt is so dry and hard should I wait?

I have several really good sites to hunt. Will be coin cherry picking with my CTX. Should I wait until we get some rain for the following reasons? hard dirt, hard digging. almost impossible digging decent plug and hurting some of the grassy areas, and of course some say coins sound better in wet dirt compared to dry dirt. Right

Moister soil is certainly better than dryer soil for many reasons & mainly it is where you will be detecting & how much you want to prevent damaging the hunting grounds & coins trying to pry them loose enough to get them out without harming coins or detecting areas! When detecting--it takes Patience, Patience & more Patience & the Bible says, Patience is a Virtue--So which do you want, Patience or Virtue or BOTH?? The rain will come just be Patient!! Ma

yes, I am waiting and while waiting lake beach hunting where all of those problems with dry weather are not a problem.

What you describe is a way of life in the deep South. Pretty much shut it down from mid June to mid Octobever. Not worth it to hear a good signal then can't get it out'. Good time of year to map out some new sites. Tip-- if you have to get out put 3030 on fast and turn sensitivity down to where you pick up more surface areas may find recently dropped jewelry. I've done this or like u say water hunt just wear sun protector.

Good idea. I was out at an elementary school tot lot getting 8 - 9" signals. Nothing usually down that far in a totlot but can lids and other construction junk. Same with volleyball courts.

I try to stay out of the parks when it drys up, plugs shrink up and look bad, I move into the woods where it’s cool and moist to feed the mosquitoes
