Legend to Nox

DigDog

Well-known member
Was looking at entry level vanquish vs simplex not sure if this thread has any bias in favor of Nokta but possibly looking now legend or nox 600
Im assuming both brands run simultaneously multiple frequencies which is mostly what im looking for but can’t afford $800 and up for a new detector.
Just getting back into hobby after 15 years
Any notable comparison’s
I have very little to basically no mineralization in my area and the beach will be hardly ever hunted. Which also wondering is it worth upgrading to a legend vs simplex i think garrett might be out not sure
Any suggestions thanks

If I was primarily hunting for jewelry I wouldn't hesitate to start off with the Simplex. Most silver jewelry will be up in the coin range, but you will find gold all over the scale. As has been mentioned in other forums, location is more important then the detector for finding jewelry. HH jim tn

Do you lnow if simplex is a smf simultaneous muti frequency
I would thin small jewelry like gold rings pendants would need higher frequency to find well no?

The Simplex is single frequency. I own both the Nox 800 and the Legend. They are very close performance and feature wise, I would not hesitate on the Legend.
Thanks hows it do on small jewelry
Do you know the frequencies it works on in multi

At this time, V1.07, The Legend has 5 different SMF choices. A 6th one is due with the next update soon. They run from very low kHz weighted in Beach Wet to fairly high kHz weighted in Goldfield. There are also 5 single kHz choices; 5,10,15,20&40 kHz. Due to it's performance & adjustability/adaptability, the Legend should be compared to the Equinox 800. The 600 is not really the same level as far as adjustability. The Legend is about the same price point as the 600, so I fell it is a better value.

Thanks
Do ypu know what specific frequencies run together in the modes

That has not been revealed, same as with the Equinox & Garrett Apex. It is considered proprietary information. Just knowing the relative scale is good enough for me.

They basically tell you the frequencies they use say 4, 10, 15, 20, 40 for example thought they might say ok field is 4 and 10
gold is 20 and 40 etc
Wouldn’t think that is that big of a secret
Im sure someone with the right equipment can tell what frequencies are being put out

Someone will probably scope it out. I have seen it posted on other SMF detectors. I would like to know too, that, and the mode/filtering objectives in more detail.

Thanks everyone for the input.
Because I, actually my wife talked me into going to the beach with it and would be the only detector i plan on having I decided the best would probably be a detector that is both vlf and smf capable.
Have ground balance options and waterproof while being in my budget.
There are not a whole lot that fir that bill.
Decided on the legend as it has pretty much everything i would possibly need for me now and in the future.
People also seem to say it is the best value for the money as other detectors that would compare in features and close in performance would be over $1000
At $630 it was just slightly over budget but I probably wouldn’t need to upgrade to anything else. I figured if I started with something simpler like the simplex by the time I upgraded who knows how much the detectors are going to go up in price and probably have well over $1000 invested in two detectors.
I originally purchased the excalliber II years ago for $1250 new now they are $1600 on sale new.
From what i was told even the Knox 600 and 800 were less money just couple years ago.
I upgraded the software to V 107 and seems to have everything i would need.
Not sure what version everyone prefers but as long as this one works fine its ok for me.

Plus there’s a promo going on right now!

Just spoke to a friend who advised me that the Legend and equinox are neck and neck, but Legend is cheaper and will save you $$$

Thats the conclusion i came to, or at least
close enough for the money.
Some people are minelab bias dont blame them i was. Still think the sovereign and excalliber are great but alot more money.
It’s basically do you want to spend more for the possibility of being slightly better in very few situations. Feature wise for the money no comparison
