Update failures

Been trying to update V1.09 to no avail. There simply are no instructions as what to do.

Wife and I have tried everything. Disabling anti virus, nope. Deleted previous setup tool for 07 and zipfile, nope. Tried one youtube video, not even close. It strikes me odd NM has not published a step by step instructions.
On the 07 we followed Jerry the Mining Monkey’s Youtube and install was a breeze to tried that hoping 09 would have same basic results following his 07, nope.
Farthest we got was downloaded 09, extracted all the files, and nothing after that would work.

Using Windows 10 on Dell laptop. Any help here appreciated.

Also, please see the attached step by step instructions from NM. Good luck and hope this works for you.

Troubleshooting:


Windows
1.
Disable your antivirus program.
2. Plug the device into a different USB port, if your computer has more than one, to see if the problem is specific to one port.
3. The right drivers must be installed – Go to www.silabs.com/developers/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers and install the driver according to your computer’s operating system.
4. Type "Control Panel" into the Windows search bar and select Control Panel.
Go to Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change advanced power settings.
Find USB Settings, then drill down to USB selective suspend setting.
Disable the options next to On battery and Plugged in, then click Apply.
You must then restart your PC to stop it from turning off the USB ports unnecessarily.
 
Hey Jim,
I found Jerry the Mining Monkey’s 15 min video instead of the 7 min video we were working with. At several points we kept getting a “repair” or “remove” when she clicked on the Installer. It simply did not want to install……
For some unknown reason it suddenly installed and we progressed forward. The only issue we could find is it said publisher unknown instead of NM.
As far as I can tell right now the update is correct and all the features included are present.
I am keeping what you sent as a backup in case what we did was wrong. Im not sure where you found what you sent me as we’ve been all over their site and it only has the 09 in red letters and absolutely no instructions attached.
Thanks for getting back, this was about 4 hours I owe my lovely lady and I somehow know she will make me pay!!!🤷‍♂️😂
 
When you get to the website and click on “software update” then scroll all the way near the very bottom of the page ( right before and after the YouTube video)

Don’t worry and instead be prepared 😂
She’s gonna make you pay 🤣🤣

 
Spent about 9 hours over three days trying to load the new update,……two different computers,……… finally just said to he** with it! Will use the legend with the 05 software loaded at time of manufacturer. Very disappointed, and yes I followed all the tips given and there was never a bin file to choose from, and no results!
 
I couldn't download update. I contacted Andy at wedigmetaldeting.net and he took care of me. Can't say enough about him. Wish I had bought my unit from him. After filling out a form and downloading an app he had me downloaded in 10min. Great guy

A driver is a software component that lets the operating system and a device communicate with each other.
 
I’m not a stupid person……

I’m on a Mac running Catalina 10.15.7. I can’t get this Legend updated to save my life….Has anyone successfully done this procedure with the same OS as my Mac ?

Please make these updates easier for the common man or woman !….NOTHING should be this hard and should be properly documented in your manual…..We shouldn’t have to search online for information that you should have furnished to begin with !

I had to down load a windows platform to my Mac catalina and then do it. Look for a windows for Mac on line. I used it for free once to Update my detector and then deleted it. It partitions your hard drive so you can run windows software on a Mac.

All that for a simple update ?…….and to think that I was so impressed with N.M. that I bought a detector from them…go figure

Couldn't agree more and NM needs to address the issue. I admit complete ignorance on computers but was able to program/update the etrac , CTX and Deus with no issues , why such an unnecessary process with the Legend.? Fortunately , Richard at Backwoods was a champ as usual and bailed me out on this update , if the next update is significant without a change in the update procedure , the Legend goes on the used market.
 
So I borrowed 2 pc laptops, and neither one had usb3 and would NOT update this detector….I’ve had detectors from many other companies and have NEVER had issues like this !!….Now I wish I had gone with the Minelab….They always worked for me in the past….I gave NM a shot and I’m beginning to regret it !!…😞
 
BS, I am not even going to try it. I'll just sell the thing if this stuff keeps up.

After literally working ALL DAY on this BS update scheme, I FINALLY got it….I continued to get an “invalid port” message and the “update” button was right there but was grayed out 🤬🤬🤬🤬

I started with my new detector version 1.05…….I was trying to update to 1.09…..

After HOURS of trying, I figured that I would give 1.07 a try……..WALLA !!!….Worked like a champ….I almost psd myself !!!….I then moved forward and installed version 1.09….I’m physically, and mentally drained !…It was easier buying a house…My poor wife had to put up with me ALL DAY !!…She wants compensation from Nokta Macro !!
