Did a few tests with 1.07 before upgrading, immediately confirmed that 1.09 matches or exceeds all 1.07's results, never looked back.
And I practically never discriminate, so all of my machines are running all metal. I only make an exception when I'm looking for something very specific (matching wedding band, for example, when I'm able to scan the other one and look for an exact VDI, give or take a few notches) or want to save some time at a spot that is polluted with very specific junk (one of the local beaches, for example, is stuffed with foil seals that read exactly 15 on VDI scale).

Well, that'll be me. I'm on Mac, and I've updated just fine. But I'm very familiar with UART updating and programming, so I'm not a good indicator of "fine" in this case
IIRC, Nokta recently released a new updater (not an update, just an updater), which supposed to alleviate many issues. It comes pre-bundled with 1.09, so you may want to re-download it.

I updated to revision 109 and was sorry that I did. The legend was noisy and wasn't very stable. I don't know what happened but I updated it again to 109 and it works great now.

Only at start up. You have to be quick & watch for it.
